Beautiful razor! It gives me hope that I can find something like that for my first purchase of a straight.
Driving home from work today I stopped at a local antique store. They usually don't have anything but today was my lucky day. I found a Hoffritz Slant travel razor in very nice shape for $10. I've been interested in trying a slant razor and this was my opportunity at a modest price. I think it's probably from the '60's as it has a white resin coated handle similar in texture to a Black Handle SS. She cleaned and shined up pretty well so I thought I'd share.....
Yes it's a slant. I think from the '60's. It has a white resin coating similar in texture to a Black Handle SS.
Thank you. It is in really good shape with just a couple of scratches on the back of the neck near the handle.
1955 A4 Red Tip: This A4 (I made an error posting) is going to my son for his birthday next month. I have an A1 due to arrive today. Hope that it's as nice as this one.
Are you serious right now??? Are you starting up a Gillette museum? Another minty addition...congrats
Hmmmmnnn....a museum. Never thought of that. No, but I am liquidating some other collections to focus on this one. Can you say RAD? Thanks JR. Wait until you see whats coming...
My second Red Tip arrived today. DC A1. The razor itself is almost as pristine as the A4 I am giving my son. The case is better---less crazing and no broken hinge. The warranty card and the slip of paper that rests underneath the razor was included, but sadly not the instructions; they are tough to get without breaking the bank. The red paint has some wear, whereas the A4's paint is literally perfect. Here are some pictures.
