The proof of the lather is in the shave!

That is actually an integral part of the Yakuza subculture, and verifies that they are who they say they are. It is possible to transfer in between groups and cities in Japan, all that is required is a letter from your sponsoring boss, and the requisite ink. Ink indicates rank and function, and new arrivals are required to join in a tea ceremony while shirtless on day one. Tattoos have made it virtually impossible for Japanese LE to infiltrate.

Ergo, tattoos are very taboo in Japan, even today.

So then Kill Bill needs to modify their take on the meeting with Lucy Liu, right? Just for the sake of accuracy of course.

Never seen it, but probably. Yakuza associated women are tattooed as well.

    Vulfix Super Badger (660)
    Proraso Sandalwood cream
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Running late this morning so I couldn't post then. Still have 100 posts to go through today. Boy, y'all been busy!

Shave #2 with the Gillette Silver Blue in my Birth Quarter Super Speed.
Face lather and 1 pass XTG. Great reduction. Wet my face and neck and did a small amount of touch up where I could easily feel stubble. A near BBS at that point, but opened up a weeper just above my jaw line by my goatee. A cold water rinse followed by moderate amount of touch up and I had the BBS. The Aqua Velva stung a bit, but settled down pretty well.

An awesome one pass BBS from the Gillette Silver Blue in my Birth Quarter Super Speed. I had intended to do a second pass, but after feeling how close the first was, I decided to go to my touch up instead. Wonderful shave. I hope we all experience ones like this!

I have figured out why Chris emphasizes good technique. Growing up in the south, he saw the pain resulting from poor technique.

A nice 2 pass shave before work, the B1 is working well. The chick blade is going strong on shave #4. I think the Pinaud bay rum has a burn close to the Cat O Nine Tails I really like it. The B is easy to use and delivered a fine shave today! image.jpeg

Next up in the soap test is Martin de Candre Fogère. I love the scent and it lathers easy but always felt like it was lacking in slickness, cushion and aftershave feel. I decided to add some liquid lanolin and use my small scuttle so it is warm but not hot. I loaded it like I hate it, a few drops of lanolin in the scuttle on off we go. Today's razor is an ATT R2, aggressive but not at the extreme end of aggressive.

This was the best lather I ever experienced with MdC, it was slick and good cushion. With the scuttle I always need to add a little water between passes and between pass 2 and 3 a couple of drops of lanolin again. Four passes and everything felt great. Next the alum test, nothing, not even a tingle. The shave was long lasting BBS. The rating for this shave is 'epic shave'.

In the past I never felt I could use MdC for a straight razor shave but it has earned a shot, this weekend I will put MdC to the ultimate test and shave and pair with a SR.

    Irritation A+, closeness A+

    Feather Artist Club SS
    Feather Professional (5)
    Semogue 830
    MdC scented
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt Innsbruck

    Goals
Further develop my two-pass shave technique by practicing the basics
Break in and get more experience with the Semogue 830
    Get more experience with MdC

The Feather blade seems a lot smoother and more comfortable on its fifth shave. I completed WTG and ATG passes with no problems. Skin irritation continues to slowly improve. I hardly felt the alum, and the shave was very comfortable. The areas between my upper lip and nose and my lower lip and chin represent my biggest challenges. I've yet to master proper skin stretching in those areas. I'll call it a DFS+ shave, with an A- on irritation.

I never lose respect for this razor, but I'm finally starting to enjoy using it again. If I continue to do OK, I'll start shaving in the mornings before work.

    Have a great Friday!
