The lot came in today looking like this. After a preliminary cleaning and removal of a rusty blade it looks like this. It is jammed and won't open. Any suggestions other than the penetrating oil that I am trying now?
I just had a look at mine there.. I reckon it would be good bet if you could make a sort of a "funnel out of a piece of a plastic bag "and tape & seal it around the bottom of the handle and sit the razor upright and spray it full of WD 40...The oil will need to go in from there to drip down into the mechanism by gravity...If you can get enough WD 40 through the back of the handle you should be able to give it a good shake to lubricate the mechanism inside ..The WD 40 should be thin enough to run inside quite freely... Billy...
Well, at least now I know we won't be bidding against each other for a while. This was my last purchase for quite a bit, so happy bidding!
I bought this "fixer upper". Lots of patina which is good, the guide bar looks bent hopefully I can straighten it out. These are the sellers pics I'll find out in a few days how good/bad it is......
this is what I'm worried about buying one of these. I think they're way cool but I haven't a clue how to even load one. the b series looks neat. anyone have an extra in good working order, I'm still looking to get into this club.
I sewed 1 up. Not happy with the snap so I ordered some new ones up the afternoon. The cace turned out ok. Considering I have never tried any type of leather work before. It is a bit rough looking but it does hold the Type B so that is good. Redfisher I will sew yours up next week. PM me your address so when I am done I can send it off to you. Tom
Thought this might be of interest to the SRROCers: Received this old, sealed war time Schick repeating razor magazine. Well, at least it was sealed for another 35 seconds until I took it upon myself to do what had not been done for 70+ years: The box even contained two sets of instructions for how to correctly load these magazines into the various types that existed at the time;
Shaved with the B today and I'm finding that I like to tilt the handle down slightly from horizontal about 10-15 degrees. It shaves better, less aggressive this way. I found this out by giving myself a nice little nick on my neck while experimenting with different angles.
There's a nice looking one for sale for $39 over at Etsy for anyone looking for one. Note: I don't know the details of the condition of the razor nor do I know the seller so check it out and ask him any questions if it's of interest Link
Just received my B2. It looks ok a lot of bracing on the head. The rest of the plating looks ok. The only issue is it does not cycle blades. It feels like it is trying to push a blade out but skips over it. The razor came with the old style blade in the head still. I am thinking the old blades are rusted together. I gave it a bath with Dawn and hot water for 30 minutes. Then ran it three the ultra sonic cleaner a few times. It did not work. So I am soaking it in a bath of WD40 to see if that helps. I may go and get some liquid wrench and soak it in that also. Any body have any other ideas I would gladly try that. Any how here are a couple of pictures before any cleanup. will pst finished product later. Tom
