Geniol Slant Safety Razor and Wilkinson Sword Super-Sword Edge Razor Blades. I haven't seen any info about this razor. This is the second Geniol razor I've seen so far. The first one was pricy so I passed that one but I purchased for a fair price this time.
Sure, I'll post pictures after the cleaning and I'll share my thoughts about this razor in my next shave. Thank you.
Well, I finally found my Gillette Rocket HD 73 gram razor and it's a beauty! It came in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to try it out and see how it compares to my other rocket, the aluminum handle 52 gram wonder. I love the aluminum handle rocket, with it's silky TTO and it's smooth and efficient shave. I bet this HD is going to be a winner!
I scored this little brush at an antique mall. No razors, but I look forward to restoring this one. Great size and shape.
It was a slow rainy day at the monthly antiques fair. Downside, I only bought one razor. Upside, it was $3.00
I've seen some Yardley vintage aftershave on dabay for a good price. Cologne or lavender? Yes looks like it was made yesterday, great score.
One of the coolest looking razors you can own (IMHO). I'm sure you already know this but the adjustment fooled me when I first got mine. The most aggressive setting is "L" and the mildest setting is "H".
Vintage Yardley is a great soap. You are lucky to still have scent to yours, mine just smells like a wood bowl, but it is a great soap. Enjoy!
Picked up an NIB eShave brush from a seller who didn't know much about the brush and couldn't really explain what it was in terms of knot, etc. but for $22 I thought it was worth a shot as I liked what I saw. The brush arrived this past week and I was happy when I saw this on the side of the box: The knot turned out to be as soft as any TGN Silvertip. Very nice! The handle is probably not everyone's cup of tea but I really like it and it feels very comfortable to hold. Will be fun to try out! But here's the $70 question. Even though the box says Silvertip...and the knot looks and feels like a Silvertip...the back of it says this: Looking at their own site it also visually appears to be a Silvertip. So, a little bit confused..... Any knot experts around? Looking at this part of their site..once again it looks like a Silvertip. I have no idea not being too well versed in knots...
It's a Silvertip knot. If you look at the brush from the top and the tips are white or silver in color... That's pretty much the sole definition of a silvertip knot. Looks silver to me.
See, I knew there was a meaning behind that so-hard-to-decipher term "Silvertip" Thanks, appreciate it!
That's the problem with talking to an expert. Most of the time, they will assume a person knows the absolute basics. I need to take a look at my brush thread and see if I mentioned that pertinent detail. Silvertip means literally, "silver tipped hair." Mostly to differentiate it from grey badger/pure badger, which also looks grey, due to the mix of brown, black, and grey hairs that make it up.
I just returned from customs office - my Stirling shipment arrived. Had to pay 10 € import taxes On the plus side, shipping took only 2 weeks. The Brush really IS huge - now I know why the call it "the Kong" First impression: I really like the scents of the 3 soaps in the front row, Glastonbury being my favorite. Not so sure about Bay Rum (really strong clove aroma) and Ozark Mountain (reminds me somehow of my grandma's pine needle bubble bath tablets ...) But I guess the scent develops while lathering the soap. The preshave soap is a free sample, I might use that tomorrow.
