Have a nice Trip, see you next Fall!

    No shave today.

I was so excited about the big football game this weekend (Roll Tide!). Between that and the rainy season starting in Seattle, I was not mindful enough of what I was doing and had my feet fly out from under me while descending my outside (and slippery) basement stairs.

Just now got home from emergency with a couple of hairline fractures to my lower back ribs and all sorts of abrasions to my extremities.

So I'll be home from work for the rest of the week and probably be sporadic with shaving.

I'm reminded of a verse to a favorite song of mine - "while my mind is quite flexible, these brittle bones don't bend?"
    Cheers!

Lather shot, it wasnt thick and fluffy but it was wet and slick and didn't dry out.

My beautiful judge and referee so I wouldn't be tempted to cheat. WIN_20151109_171444.JPG

Ok so, I cold water face lathered the williams with the floppy badger. I painted vigorously instead of swirling to keep it from tangling and in that I succeeded. The lather was workable and slick but not very thick. I used every trick I knew. low angle, G-slide, J-hooking. I did 2 passes useing G- slide for one XTG and J-hooking XTG/ATG for the 2nd. I didn't have any blood but it wasn't comfortable. The derby just tore at the hair but it did cut so it wasn't Tiger 3H bad. At the end I used 2 sprays of TSD yin yang cologne mixed with a handful of unscented witch hazel and some Nivia sensitive post shave balm. I submitted myself for judging and she was amazed at how I managed to get completely smooth all over save a 1/4 inch wide bit directly under my chin about 1/2 inch long. But I can hardly call This a good shave because my face looked like this. . .

Ouch! I still had fun but since the Dorco 300 feels better on my face I'll be getting rid of these derby blades. I can't wait to get back to my normal setup this month. I did it for Science!

More. the witch hazel, cold wash cloth and Nivia reduced it some. the few sprays of cologne didn't add enough alcohol to burn. The brand of witch hazel I have is already 13% alcohol but I haven't felt it yet. The redness has all but faded now but I still feel a few tingles here and there. if I had any ice I could have killed the red faster. On the plus side I smell great. Yin Yang is amazing with the lime and lavender and the Nivia is very mildly bergamot which is nice too. Both of them smells amazing.

In defense of the redness the whiskers around my mouth are very dense and are twice and 3 times the thickness of the hair on the rest of my face. they are very rat whiskery. Many blades fail to cut them irritation free. Schick injectors, Gem SE, GSP, Astra SP and both Personna red and blue can but none of the others I've tried. Straights can as well, mostly.

I broke my two-night "no boo boo" streak with a couple of tiny weepers. Otherwise, I completed my normal WTG and XTG/ATG passes, resulting in a DFS+ shave with an A- on irritation. All things considered, it was a very good shave. I'm getting more confident each day (without losing respect for this razor), and I hope to transition to morning shaves later this week. I finished with CC Bay Rum tonight. For some variety, I'll splash on some Fine L'Orange tomorrow.

    Stay smooth!

Vince, I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I'm glad your injuries weren't any worse, although rib fractures can be quite painful. Take care of yourself!

It wasn't that bad. I probably could have gotten a better lather with a bowl and warmer water but that wouldn't be as fun. The redness only lasted about 45 min and the tenderness about an hour and a half. I've had worse shaves and better.

LOL What a scam that stuff was, to me anyway. I used an electric razor from the time I was 19 until around 30 or so. I remember buying the 'Lectric Shave and using it religiously with my Norelco razor. And, I remember not having it and shaving anyway. I never could tell a real difference but boy did the advertising convince you it was an essential!

OUCH!! Ok, new rule....you have to use safety harnesses or other approved devices to avoid any further injuries from slips/falls/trips. OSHA requires it and so does RBCSHA - The Russian Blade Cartel Safety and Health Administration. Don't make me send Igor up there to guard you. He sometimes gets confused on who needs guarding!

Seriously, glad you're ok and didn't end up worse. Get well soon and don't worry about the shaves....health and healing is far more important my friend.

Why do I feel like I have a son I've never met? :signs002: Great effort, especially throwing the Williams in there. Yeah, not exactly the greatest shave but you survived with only redness and irritation to show for it. Oh, and by the way, more pictures of the judge and referee next time. Just saying. :)

Love the eternal optimism....uses Williams and gets it even that good and still thinks there's better. Adorable!
