I have been fortunate with my A & B Type Repeaters'...Both are in Mint Condition and fully functional...These Repeaters are built well but the internal mechanisms are quite delicate and the Magazines were designed for one use and thus disposable...They were designed to be opened as and when required and that was the whole point of them...They held 20 blades and Hell that was a long time...The Magazine itself is the most delicate part and if that's got a hair width of damage which they often do then everything will jam up...I never use the loading system with modern blades...They struggle to cope with them and I don't think its good for the mechanism.. Billy...
Billy You just load them by hand then? I was wondering how you get it to seat without slicing yourself. I see a potential for that me being me Do you have some pointers for us all on this subject. We would very much appreciate any advice. Thanks Tom
Hi Tom The Heads on the Repeaters as you know don't have any blade stops and don't need to be opened like later injectors...Because the original blades were thicker you may have to tighten the sprung head by pressing it down on a flat wooden surface...Even after that the gap in the head is still quite apparent...I just slide the blade in by hand and seat it fully back using my finger nail...The blade can feel looser than what we are used too but it cant go anywhere when its seated back when shaving... Billy..
Sorry it did not register with me you could not get the plunger to move. I have not encountered that. Hopefully somebody can help. Anyways you can load by hand and enjoy your shave.
I have the same issues with my B2 blade holder jamming. My B1 parts work in both my razors? I havent spent much time messing with them yet to see whats wrong.
So after messing around with my new B2 last night. I have come to really appreciate this fine piece of precision equipment. I leaned how to remove a stuck spring and blade holder. Pretty easy once you learn how it is held into place. Mrchick I wish I can help you on the stuck plunger. I have not encountered that yet. I tend to believe that it is just very dirty from many years of neglect. A lot of soaking in Hot water with Dawn. This will remove the majority of the gunk that is fairly easily removed. You may want to give it a nice long bath in some WD40 or similar type of rust loosener. Then some ultra sonic cleaning if you have one. You might want to use compressed air to try and free up the loose stuff and blow it dry. Compressed canned air if you do not have an air compressor. If all else fails it really does not matter that it does not load.what matters is that it shaves as Billy says. Just load them by hand. I will be doing this from this point forward. I am now able to load both of my razors with the plunger but I only have 1 good blade holder. I will be removing them and keeping them in a safe place. Any how I never got around to polishing my B2 last night so I did it this afternoon. What I thought was bracing on the spring was actually only tarnish or what ever it is that builds up on Gold plating. This turned out way better than I expected. Very pleased with the results. Here are some pictures of the finished product. P.S. Billy thank you for all of your guidance to us. I really appreciate it.
Yep, that's a fine looking razor there Tom! I've learned a lot more about these things thanks to you! I think you should be granted Knighthood in the SRROC!2Or perhaps Jedi status.....
HAHAHA I LIKE IT. Sir Tom has a nice ring to it. I hope to learn a lot more about them in the future. Now I need to save my pennies so I can get an A and a C.
Yes both of mine are like that. I believe that is normal. I was mainly asking mrchick as his will not retract. I Am just trying to figure out why? I must have too much time on my hands when I get home from work. My mind wanders and I will start to dwell on things. Like why the heck he cannot cycle his razor. Tom
I don't think he can get his to budge at all...His whole mechanism is gummed up as I understand it...Its stuck solid.. Billy...
Something must have broken or gotten jammed inside maybe the blade holder/ magazine. How the heck can you unjam it if you can't get inside? Broken spring?
