Aristocrat Focus: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush Pre de Provence SS Gillette Aristocrat Stirling Unscented PSB Canoe AS I've been out of pocket since Tuesday, and actually haven't shaved since then, so I had a couple of days of growth to work with this morning. My wait was worth it, as it was a fantastic shave. The Aristocrat really works well when riding the cap, and I love Pre de Provence. After a few days of scruffiness, it feels good to be smooth again. I am not sure I want to try to catch up with everything I missed. Do we have any takers on providing a synopsis?
Day 13 - 13 November 2015 No Variation November! 13th verse, same as the first! The GSB lives to day 14, flawless two pass with zero irritation! Have I found a new top performing soap? Time will tell. This month's shave kit is really producing great shaves! I wonder how long this GSB can really hold out. 14 will be a record for me on any blade type. Early shave today, night out in Denver with Mrs. Samurai. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado! Have a great weekend!

NOVember - NO Variation November 13 Razor - Feather SS AC Pain Stick Blade - (4) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Friday the 13th - 13 days on the Feather SS, the only thing missing is a black cat crossing my path. Wouldn't have mattered. The automatic nature of this process continues. The only issue today was a slight grab at the latest cut still healing near my ear but again no blood or damage, just that feel of a slight bump. I'm holding the angle well across the entire shave finishing DFS on two passes. The thought occurred to try and improve it with a third pass today but hey, why mess with success at this point. Maybe over the weekend I can take it another step further. For right now I'm just happy at how natural it's feeling and how enjoyable the shave has become. My only change up was to go back to Nivea for post shave. The alum is still out for an extra moisturizing at night but the Nivea felt good this morning. The alum is still a bit harsh at times, especially on some neck areas I'm buffing a bit to get the DFS, but Nivea took care of it and the irritation backed off nicely. So, almost a full 50% through the month and all's well. Still have all my fingers, my nose, ears, etc. For me it's becoming almost TOO boring. Hope your weekend is great!
I still don't have enough facial stubble to do more then a one pass shave. I'm not even sure it would need touchups after that pass. The tech challenge shave made me a better shaver and made me appreciate the smooth sharpness of the GSB.
Nov 14 Focus shave 14 Day 23 with Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, with trepidation I decided to go with a straight razor. To compensate I used my top brush, a two band fan Thater. The lather today was much improved over the last two tries. The first two passes felt so smooth, I was surprised. Did all 4 passes except for the 'fools pass'. Everything felt great. I applied the alum and to my surprise there was some stinging, where did that come from? I did not feel anything during the shave. Final results was BBS, only the 3rd time with a straight. November 14th Well - what can I say ... another great shave today. Man, this is getting old - D.R. Harris Sandalwood - Semogue 620 - Mühle R89 - Gillette Silver Blue (#5) - Myrsol Agua Balsamica Drove my wife to the airport this morning (she's visiting her mom for a week) and after that spent some quality time in the bathroom. What started as a quick 2-pass (so I planned, at least) culminated into a shave-fest. Everything went so great that I decided to do the job properly and have a 3rd pass, just for the fun of it. Irritation A+ again, overall A. One hour later there's one tiny spot where I can feel some stubbles ATG ... but at least it's a different spot than yesterday So I'd say I missed the perfect BBS by a whisker. After the actual shave I decided to try a few brush/soap combinations and face lathered the Stirling Ozark Mountain and my MWF with each the new Stirling synthetic, The Vulfix 404 "Grosvenor" mixed and the new Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger. Worked out great, but I still don't like the Ozark Mountain smell. On the plus side: it's really good for de-stinking brushes ... the new badger smells like pine needle now instead of wet animal Still no irritation after 3 passes of actual shaving and 6 face lathering attempts afterwards. Interesting mix of scents on my face now though. Have a great saturday.
Congratulations on your near BBS! Over time, you'll discover all those troublesome spots and zero in on them. There are some areas where my whisker stubble seem to sleep until I apply my After Shave. Those are the areas I need to pay close attention to during my cold water rinse and go over again if there is any hint of stubble there. If I don't, at best I wind up with what you and I both have today: a near BBS!
