Yes, I apologize for not capturing all necessary details.
No - mine does not open - has a knob on each side of the lever. Spring is not off-center.

That makes it slightly different than Red Rider's in that his appears to not have a knob on the side (right side) that appears in the photo.

That makes yours the equivalent to the second USA Type E 2 then Sir...These were slightly less aggressive than the Earlier Type E 2...Yours does have an off centred spring by the way if it has a knob each side of the lever...Its the lever that's actually off centred...I am not sure what Red Rider has there because I cant see his comb properly and his has a centred spring...But yours is definitely the equivalent to the second USA Made Type E 2 as I have pictures of above ...Here it is again...Yours is the same set up as the one in the middle here..;)

Ah! bang on Sir, I see it now. Yes the top of the lever is offset!

Ok then, similar to second edition of E2 in the States, slightly less aggressive, but efficient!

Well done yet again Mr. Wizard!

This might be tomorrow's shave. It's currently soaking in a hot bath of liquid dish soap...

    Before soak and scrub:

Definitely worth trying some different blades. I love my early type E2 and didn't think I'd ever use my Gs again until trying a Personna blade - it made a big difference. Now I just have to shave enough with one to try out the modded feather.

As per renaldo.us and similar Schick injector information pages :

E1: Flat Head spring with tabs
    E2: Round spring with flaps
E3: bar guard gets parallel grooving

    Don't know how definitive.

Yeah that's about right Sir..The Type E 1 was only made for a matter of 9 months or so and are hard to find With the flat spring..I haven't got one myself...All the Type E 2 variants have a smooth comb & flaps on the spring..The Type E 3 had a grooved comb and the Type E 4 was the First Schick Injector with the Spring Flaps removed..:)

Oh, injector gurus...what model did I just buy?
I'm guessing an N-model but can't quite place the handle:

Does that go for the Canadian E's also?

That's an interesting question Sir...The Canadian Type E injectors are a hard bunch to pin down as they tended to do their own thing from time to time...I have got a better hang on them now though....Occasionally they do fall outside USA Typologies Sir....That said...As a Rule of Thumb...what I said above does stand up for Canadian Type E s as well...The Canadian Type E s are not as mysterious as I once thought that they were...There is just so much misunderstanding going in a lot of Forums with folks that has caused a lot of confusion over the years... I picked this stuff up for myself through studying my own collection in collaboration with others and using what credible information that is out there..;)

Thanks for the well wishes, man I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I'm improving. Probably another month or so before I get back to form. :kar:

Glad to see you're still around and enjoying all these great shaves of yours. I've got a backlog of injectors that I'm going to try to focus on in the new year - my two PALs (Adjustable and Injectomatic), Canadian E2, Hydro-Magic I2, and two discoveries from a tour of antique shops in Oregon - a G4 '66' and the turquoise G5. Those last two were still new, in their original boxes and with their copper blanks still in them.

SWMBO was snooping around the pretty turquoise one, so that may wind up in her Xmas stocking! :santa
