Which one do you have Tom?
I see more of the Canadian models showing up on the bay lately... are you eyeballing one? ...your secret is safe with us! ;)

Billy shed some more light on the identity of my Canadian E last night starting here. It's been quite perplexing to try to narrow it down, but I'm confident in his assessment and what to look for when viewing these things - the differences are soooo subtle.

You are now looking for the Type N 2 with a "Plain Black" Handle...I had a look around but don't see one..:happy088:

The D came through it's cleaning looking really nice and it was ready for a shave today. First things first - the pictures are not as good as in person - they seem to accentuate where there is inconsistent wear which shows up in the pictures looking like it is tarnish. It doesn't have that appearance in person. It is really hard to tell what's brass vs. what's plating. I'd love to know what these were finished with because it is not one that comes up shiny - even the inside of the handles where there is no wear are more subdued that what we see on later Schicks or on the Type C repeaters. I've added a photo that is not so much of a close up and it gives a better sense for how it cleaned up. I've very happy with it. :happy036:

The shave truly is unique. Like Billy says, smooth, smooth, smooth. Definitely a razor that feels like you are cheating somehow - it just seems so easy. In fact, deceptively so. Which means that you can find yourself pushing it more than what is needed - and find a delayed weeper following that. That will be easy to avoid in future shaves.

The D makes no bones about whacking whiskers with easy abandon. By the start of the third pass most of my face was baby smooth. If I took a little more time I suspect touch ups would have been unnecessary. I am looking forward to seeing how long the BBS lasts. Having shaved mid-day, tomorrow may end up being a day off. :happy088:

Net net - I'll be spending a lot more time with the D! :git:

I am not sure at this point. I an doing a trade with @Red Rider. I have an Adjustable by Schick that i am trading for his Butterscotch handled E type he posted yesterday. It appears to be an E2 or E3. It has no grooves on the bar. But it does not appear to have the swivel clamp to open it.
Really curious as to what it is. I have a USA E2 that i really like.
Maybe somebody can shed some light on what it is.

She has cleaned up well Sir...:happy036:A photo never does a Schick Type G any Justice...They do live up to their Coveted Reputation...Smooth & Smooth & Smooth...The Smoothest Schick Injector ever made I reckon...It does sort of feel like there is some cheating going on with this one...Its a "Cheeky Wee Monkey" the Type D for sure and so intuitive to use...No other Schick can be compared to it really...Glad you like it Sir..:happy108:

Yeah the one that Red Rider has appears to be a much later Type E 2 with a centred spring. although I cant see the comb properly..If these are anything like the later USA Made later Type E 2 s then they are on the Milder side as far as Type E 2 s go...Efficient shavers nevertheless but decidedly Milder than the one that opens...:)

Thanks for the info. I was thinking late E2 or early E3. Good to know. Can't wait to do a side by side with my E2.

Seriously though...in a word - from others. Either The TSD Marketplace or on the bay. Though I did mention those two I found at an antique store.

I got my Canadian E as a purchase in August on the TSD Marketplace. That's also when I hit the bay.

I think my timing was good, but I think there are still some good injectors to be found on there (E, G, HydroMagic, even the Canadian versions) for reasonable prices. The real unique ones (i.e. repeaters) are a bit tougher and the Type D and F are almost impossible to find and their price is approaching 'Fatboy' status.

Part of it is knowing what you are looking for.

Schick didn't get into as specific an identification system as Gillete did, but if you go here you'll find the best indexing of them that I've found. Find the type you want and note their patent numbers. Then go to the bay and look at postings. Most sellers don't take the time to figure out what they're selling. But if there is a clear enough photo you can see the numbers and figure it out. Or just message them for the patent numbers.

One last thing - don't discount the PAL injectors. I'm going to do a more in-depth assessment of all my injectors (in January, I hope), but after a few shaves with all of them (Schick and PAL) my initial thoughts are that the PALs may be the top contenders for my goal of finding automatic two-pass shaves. (based on my whisker type of course)

    Good luck Herm.
If interested, at some point I would be more than happy to loan a few of these to you from time to time if you wanted to sample them.

    Here's my list of injectors:

1950s Era Pal Adjustable Injector (bay)
1933 Schick Type C1 Magazine Repeater Open Comb (bay)
1955-58 Schick Eversharp Type I2 (Black handle) (bay)
1937 Schick Made in Canada Type E (Butterscotch handle) (TSD)
1946-55 G4 Schick 66 Navy (new in box) (antique shop)
1946-55 G5 Turquoise (New in box) (antique shop)
PAL InjectoMatic (New in box) (bay)

    Personna Floating Head 11 Injector
NOS Schick Twin Injector Blade (New)
    Semogue Boar Brush
Wars Classic Shaving Cream (added Argan oil)
    Organic Aloe Vera Gel
Logana Mann After Shave Splash (From Germany)

Had a Midnight shave with my Personna Floating Head 11 Injector tonight...I had about 4 days of whiskers to cut down...I prefer these NOS Schick Twin blades to the NOS Gillette Track 11 blades in this injector...These Schick blades are far sharper and ever so smooth...Its easy to run the blades across the stops in this injector...Extra care is needed when loading it...This injector has the hallmarks of some American Safety Company injectors in that the "Sweet Spot" is quite subtle ...This is a very smooth and forgiving injector but its deceptively aggressive in my books...Very subtle though...Never missed a Whisker & my face is as smooth as silk...Good Karma...:p

I'd be lying if I said SE's were my favorite, I do prefer DE's. BUT I must admit I'm starting to get SE fever. RT, thanks for your offer, my friend, I may take you up on it sometime. For now I'll begin my hunt.
