The type A arrived today just in time for my birthday! I'm so pleased with it. A couple of points, it had a full load of original type blades in the handle which surprised me so I cycled through them and the function is perfect. I did this because I'm not going to shave with the old blades and I didn't want any rust in there because I will be shaving with this razor. All the inside bits are clean and rust / corrosion free, cool right! The guy included a photocopy of the instructions for loading the blades so if I want to go that route at least I know how. I will hand load it with a Chick blade and give it a test tomorrow. There is a number stamped on it 47 I wonder what it might indicate. Anyway here is a pic...
So here's the family. Now I need a D and the ever elusive F . The repeating razors are truly remarkable however and it is amazing to have something so old and yet still functioning. I'd bet the guy who owned one of these back then had a real prize and a tool to be considered excellent.
Lovely Set you have there...The Type D & Type F Injectors are for me the Cream of the Schick Injectors... Billy..
Wait till the variations in the E and G get under your skin and you decide you want the whole set. Oh, wait, the alphabet keeps going on from there...
My photo 'entry' into this fun club - my, I think, C3 model (or C2?) Still to be cleaned up.... Next I'm going to have to learn how to load these things
I have a relatively unusual Type A razor - with the copper bands. I think I've only ever seen one or two other like it. But, it appears to be a tad 'jammed'. The seller, not a 'razor person' explained that it was working and then she got the loading mechanism stuck and left it like that as she didn't want to worsen the problem. The good: due to that I got it a bargain price. The bad: it's still jammed/ stuck and I don't know how to un-jam it. Here's some photos of the razor: And, here's the problem. The spring inside the handle can be moved up..or down..about an inch or so but then it becomes very stuck. I'm a bit apprehensive to put some real effort into yanking it out as I don't want to damage it any further. Any clever ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated as I would love to see this thing back in working order
I don't think so to be honest. The bands are original to the razor and doesn't appear to be 'tampered' with. I've seen one or two of these around. One person made the assumption that it was an executive-level gift/commemorative item but I haven't seen anything along those lines. I'll see if I can dig out the threads where others posted about theirs.
If that is the case, then that is one cool razor! In fact, a Type A+!!! I'd do all I could to get that beauty restored to its original luster! Congrats!
I know there's also a member here on TSD that has an identical one...the post was made several years ago. Hoping whoever that was is still around and sees this thread.
