Planned Friday, November 21, 2015 Shave (Waiting for hot water)
    Shower
    Plisson Synthetic
Stirling Pumpkin Spice (face lathered; first time with this soap!)
    Grandpa's Milord w/Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    W, X1, X2, touch up
Cold rinse, cold towel, witch hazel, Creamo Balm, Old Spice
I'll let you know how it goes.

Update: The water never reached even lukewarm, so I "made do." The Stirling Pumpkin Spice is amazing. It smells like a cookie! I swear I smelled butter in it. I left the first lather on longer than usual, which gave my wife the chance to fulfill her fantasy of kissing a gingerbread man with an icing beard. The lack of hot water was evident. The shave wasn't close enough. However, I did introduce three new variables...no hot water, new soap, new razor/blade combo...so I can't place blame yet. If you don't have this soap in your Fall arsenal, get some today.

Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost
Razor: Gillette Black Handle Super Speed @LaSalle82
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Lather: MdC @Gabe
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson @Bama Samurai
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
Aftershave: Fine American Blend @Douglas Carey
Often I struggle with what I'm going to use for my SOTD, many times I'm inspired by what other members are using. Here's my members inspired shave and it was fantastic!
Gillette Black Handle SS, mild, forgiving, a great razor for every level of experience. MdC. The best soap I've ever used, best bang for your buck per shave. Plisson. Everyone wants to copy this super brush, makes sense because it's a workhorse. Fine American Blend. A barbershop in a bottle. Smooth as silk shave. Thank you all for your inspiration.

I really enjoyed this shave with the Proraso Green soap - it gave me good, cooling lather which felt nice. The Intesa balm is very, very soothing and Brian's Frostbite aftershave packed a HELL of a menthol wallop which I loved! :happy088: :happy088:

    The Inevitable Shave
Once I got comfortable using my Futur on six with Voskhod blades, I knew somehow that I would have to try it with the dreaded Feather blade as well. Earlier this year I had broken up with Feathers, deeming them too unforgiving. Well, a friend of mine sent me some Feathers recently, and I took it as a challenge.
With some trepidation I loaded the Futur and my HIS brush with Lavanille, one of my favorite scents and best performing lathers. I face lathered over PAA Ice and slowly began my first pass. This and two subsequent passes went by comfortably, but no more efficiently than with Voskhod. I felt good, but I did get a couple late appearing weepers. Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum and Shea Moisture Balm took care of those with no lasting irritation.
Overall, I was satisfied but no impressed with Feather, though I realize one shave is not enough to call it.

Got a mail call from Lee @wetshavingproducts yesterday. A great scented and performing soap. This is Formula T which has Shea Butter and Tallow in it.
This soap performs. Great slickness and post shave. The Aftershave has Alcohol in it, so really like that. Also has a good overall feel when applied. Very Pleased!!

Love that Fine American Blend bottle .:happy088::happy088: I often do the same thing when considering what my SOTD will be. Also many of my purchases have come from SOTD reviews.

I was lucky to be an early buyer of Fine, my bottle of Snakebite is the rounded style. Most if not all of my purchases have been made on recommendations or reviews from fellas here. :eatdrink047:

This was a fantastic shave. A two pass BBS! I am always impressed with these old Single Rings. Especially the thin cap and guard versions. Here's the photo-

Thanks Clint. I have had my ups and downs with MW soaps; specifically with the scents. When choosing a scented soap, my tastes run towards the natural, basic, unadulterated scents, which is why I really appreciate Mike's, and Jabonman to name a couple. MW soaps are great performers and I always get a great shave with them. The Vetiver & Oakmoss is very pleasing. Woodsy, but not moldy; earthy but not musty. Some artisans shy away from true vetiver, similarly shying away from Sandalwood. (Cost is probably a factor). The results may be pleasing to many shavers, but to my nose, no longer have much to do with the base scent. Michelle at MW has come up with a terrific recipe and if you like MW soap and vetiver, you should be very pleased with this soap as well.
