I am trying to find what the difference between different bottles of 4711 Ice Cologne actually is. I have seen a few styles, but I haven't been able to tell if the styles are actually different product, or if they are just redesigns, and if they are redesigns, what the approximate ages are of the designs. Also, does anyone know if it is currently in production? I have found it on a few sites, but most seem to be sold out.

The designs I have found are:

Anyone here use it? What do you think of it?

Edit: Re-watched the Australian commercial from 1979 on youtube and that has yet another design. The video is a classic.

I have never seen the first and the second bottle. They should be vintage.
Looking at the first bottle's cap I would consifer it's from the fifties or sicties. The box of the second bottle looks like from the seventies. The third and the fourth bottle are actual. The third picture is a real picture and the forth a computer design you can find on the manufacturer's webpage.
It is in production now. You can find it in the 4711 webshop. Look https://shop.4711.com/index.php?cPath=96&osCsid=168ef8ab1d08658fce9aa04c31a5f816
Unfortunately they only ship to Europe.

I have tried the Ice Cool Cologne once in a drug store. For me it's much to flowery. Look at the scent's description http://www.4711.com/duft0+M52087573ab0.html
It reminds me on another German classic cologne called Tosca. I don't know if you ever heart about it http://www.tosca-duft.de/en/

Thanks Stefan! That is kind of what I was thinking too. This question was actually sparked when I ordered two of the blue bottles, and two of the green arrived. I assume it is just old packaging, but wanted to make sure I wasn't getting a different product before I opened them. To be honest, I like these bottles better. Anyone else have any ideas on dating these?

One of the problems with 4711 is that not everywhere in the world had been the same 4711 products. Look at 4711 Portugal. It had been a popular product in Germany in might be the fifties. Then it disappeared at the local market and came back as a novelty in the 2000s. But it had been produced for the Asian market before it had been here again. Look at this 4711 ice http://www.elleroom.com/images/users/14348/product/b0017_09473.jpg . The bottle looks like yours but the box is very different. It's for the Asian market. But I don't know where because I don't know the writing of the webpage.
But I have a SIR Irish Moos shaving soap from the 70s and the design of the box is so similar I would bet your bottle is also from the 70s or late 60s.

Thanks Stefan. I hadn't thought about the different markets getting different product.

Hi Rodd, can you tell me where you bought these bottles? I've been looking for this vintage design for a while now without luck...

I know, but I was hoping he'd see my question and respond anyway. :3

I've bought the product, but it came in a different, simpler bottle than Rod's: none of the fancy "cut glass" effect, just smooth glass. Many retailers are apparently using stock pictures to advertise.

The vintage cut-glass Molanus bottle is currently being used for 4711's Acqua Colonia line, but I really wanted to find an Ice bottle in this style, if they still make it.

I think I actually have an unopened bottle. Sorry, I don't get back as often as I'd like.

I just looked, I got it at overstockperfume.com in 2011.
