Shaved with my new Type A repeating razor this morning and I'm happy to say it is one nice little unit!
NOVember - NO Variation November 21 Saturday and the boss bought us all breakfast today before we started. So, an hour early start to the day and it was snowing when I got up. Not sticking to the ground, more like blowing by horizontally. Yeah, shaving takes energy and I'm not really ready to move, kind of a lazy start so let's just say we shaved and don't. These Saturday skip days are getting to be a habit. Hope your weather was better than ours today!
I'm not sure about the Dr Pepper thing but you can detect cherry and maybe almond in there. Nice overall and a easy lather that is very slick and long lasting. I face lather mostly so load a damp brush and that's it.
Aristocrat Focus November 21: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Ben Franklin SS Gillette Aristocrat Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Ben Franklin AS I changed to a Feather blade today, my first non Russian blade this month. It was a good shave, as has become the norm with this razor. I was getting ready to work the sound board for a wedding, so I went with my favorite scent, the Ben Franklin. It all came together for an enjoyable shave made better with my 4 year old son shaving next to me. The Beatles released The White Album this week in 1968. In honor, and for your listening pleasure:
Well, I haven't posted my last couple of shaves because, quite frankly, they were carbon copies of the previous ones. I'm looking forward to December and a chance to change things up. I'll have the new DeFitch as well as the Blackbird to try out as well as a couple of straights to test. I'm thinking of Different December, where every shave will use a different razor, blade, soap, and brush. Since I only average 10 shaves a month I should have enough brushes to pull it off. If not I might have to buy some.
Nov 22 Focus shave 22 Back to the AoS tallow so I can compare it to Valobra. Using the same technique to lather the soap, a soft brush with good flow through yielded very wet yogurt like lather. It is clear these two share allot of DNA, I like the AoS a little bit better but that may just be in my head. Did 4 passes with my PRC western kamisori. I think I was trying to hard for the BBS and I felt some irritation. Did the alum test and some light sting but not to bad, I will give it A- for irritation. Was not able to catch the baby but came up just short. Oh I have much more confidence in you than that. I believe you could not only use one but most likely master it and exceed anything that Charlie and myself could achieve. We bow humbly to your expertise and wisdom and pray, yes pray for you to show us the way with one. Here, let me add just one more bit of encouragement..... Just imagine a brand new Feather SS in your den, the anticipation of opening it, lovingly inserting that Feather Pro blade and how your wise and talented hands would wield it. Again, tears welling up here. Ok, that's all I got....If I haven't yanked on your emotions or ego enough by now to try one I'm out of ideas.
I didn't realize they had an Etsy site. Just checked. They do have the AS, but I only have the Soap. It's part of the travel box and I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or pass it on.
I used to say the same thing. Three weeks later, I'm using one daily with nice results. I actually like the silly thing.
Great idea! I'm in the same boat. No variation is starting to bore me since figuring the Feather figured out. Who else is in for Different December? I could focus on that
20mm WD synthetic Proraso White croap El cheapo ebay shavette (<$2.00) Gillette Super Speed GSB (day 3 both razors) Alum block Shave is the same as before except that I found an alum stick at the pharmacy when I went in to refill my fiance's insulin. I used that as an Aftershave. @ pass XTG ATG switching razors in between passes. I managed a near BBS. Alum was quiet except for right under the jawline. Cold water rinse after the alum dried because it felt so tight and dry. I'm happy about the scentless aspect of the alum. I wasn't feeling any of what I had so smelling like nothing was great. I think it may be too drying for regular use but it will come in handy for grip during next months straight shaves. Might try yellow listerine as an aftershave tomorrow night. That was its original use, right? Tomorrow night I'll adjust my routine by adding a 2nd shavette pass one piece of my face at a time. cheeks get both WTG and XTG tomorrow night. I'm excited.
Definitely in. So many soap samples that pile up here, some blades I haven't tried and even a few razors I haven't used yet. Drives me crazy
