This was enough to pique my curiosity (and pull me out of lurk mode on this forum), as I also have two PAL adjustable injectors. As it turns out I also have one of each bevel size, causing me to break out the caliper and feeler gauges.

The left razor has a bevel that is .210" wide, the right is .160". All other external dimensions are identical.

Measuring blade gap was tricky, since the guard moves and is held in place by spring tension. With the adjustment in the H position as nearly as I could tell using feeler gauges they both had a blade gap of .028".

All this caused me to spend some time closely examining them, and I noticed that the quality of machining seems to be better on the one with the narrow bevel (on the right). Look at the ends of the bevel near the blade stops. Some of that is soap scum but some of it is machining flaws. Also, note the finish around the edges of the bevel, and how the corners are rounded on the razor on the right.

I don't recall any big difference in shaving, but it has been a while since I have used the short beveled one. I recently spent several days using the wide beveled one with a NOS Schick Plus Platinum blade, and had some excellent shaves once I got the angle dialed in.

Atta Boy Brian....Perfect Thanksgiving Post Injector Style.....I love it !!
And I can see why you picked these....They are gorgeous!

And I think we can ALL appreciate your phrase "My formerly NOS L1. I've had her about a year now and shaved with it a lot." I love it...The operative word 'formally'...You were sooo right to pop that pretty girl out and set her free to shave like she was designed to do....:happy096:

Man growing up I spent most of my young adult years on many L types....I was a touring musician and was always losing them or leaving one somewhere...and would just grab another at the nearest 7-11...Those were the days...lol!....They are a wonderful daily shaver, no way around it.....and that Golden 500 looks like a Jaguar E Type....She could get a speeding ticket standing still....}8^))

Wishing you many years of great shaving with these beauties......

Very interesting Bob and thank you for adding to the discussion! I'll have to take another look at the blade gap of the two I have, but at least visually, the one I have that looks like your's on the right seems to have a bit more space between the bar and the blade. Maybe it is just an illusion though.

I agree that it looks as if ASR refined their design a bit and that the one on the right is a version 2.0 of sorts. It also seemed to me that the two versions had slightly different curvatures to their safety bar. Also, the weight and overall size of the older version seemed to be slightly slimmed down with the refined one.

Even though I feel the version 2 shaves a bit better I keeping my first one and can still get a decent shave from it. Love those Pal Adjustable:bounce015:

One more thing...These are a vintage injector cleaners best friend and can be had for only a couple bucks at a hardware store. I picked them up at a Mendards and they have been great for getting into that hollow space you can't get at without disassembling. Just sharing:)

Got to use a NOS Schick Super Chromium blade in the D today. Big difference over the Plus Plat. No more wee cheeky monkey! :happy036: This is one smooth razor and higher on the aggressive scale - it doesn't get as deep as the PAL Injecto Matic but it's a pleasure to use and I've got a smooth face all the way around.

The bonus was that my oldest son was home from school and wanted to try out one of my razors. He had avoided shaving for a few days to have a good set of stubble to work with. I showed him the collection, including his great-grandfather's 1912, but I decided my black handled I1 with a Twin blade would be a good starting point for him. I may have him try out the Floating Head later this week but, then again, I don't know that I want to spoil him. ;)

I've stockpiled some cream and after shaves and bought a Truefitt & Hill stand with a bowl, badger brush and nice cartridge razor for Christmas for him to head off the possible pilfering. I also have a duplicate G that I can throw in in case he decides he wants to jettison the cartridges... Doing my best to stay one step ahead. :D

THE COMPLETE SCHICK TYPE G INJECTOR SERIES...:git:

The Schick Type G series was introduced in 1946 with the Eversharp take over from the Schick Repeating Razor Company until they ceased production in the year 1955...When the Type G 1 was introduced it took over from the Type E s that ceased production in the USA in 1946..Canadian Type E Injectors however were continued to be made for many years after the Eversharp introduction of the G 1 well into the mid 1950s..:)

    Eversharp G Type series...
G1: moulded Ivory plastic seamed handle
    G2:14kt gold handle (solid metal)
    G3: Gold plated ( Hollow handle )
G4: Schick 66 - blue handle, chrome textured head
G5: Turquoise handle (Often referred to as ladies Schick)
    G6: Clear amber plastic handle
    G8: Square, partially ribbed handle

Eversharp G Type series in numerical order ...:p
    [IMG]
    Another Group shot...:p
    [IMG]
The Type G series unlike the Type E series did not vary in terms of aggression...In other words there are no head variation's...They all shave pretty much the same...The build quality did vary however...The early type G 1 had a better build quality than some of the later rounded neck models and the Christmas Edition Gold Type G 2 is a real heavy weight compared to the rest of the series...;)

    Eversharp Type G Identification ...:signs002:
The Type E on the left has a single patent number..1806087 & other pending...The Canadian Type E has got the same patent number as the USA Type E but has made in Canada 1937....The Type G can be easily identified by the numbers on the left side of the spring....The G Type has two patent numbers...1806087 and 1969945....

    Some common misunderstands...:signs081:

Some folks think that there was a mismatch of handles going on here...That couldn't be further from the truth..As a rule of thumb the Type G 1 can be identified by the Ivory Seamed handle....But here's the thing....The so called Type G 1 seamed handle was a "Clone" of the earlier "E Type" handle....Most Type E s can be identified as having a Bakelite Butterscotch handle but that's only partially correct as there was a USA made Type E 3 with an Ivory seamed handle and also some Canadian Type E s as well..:p

USA Type E 3 & Canadian Type E with seamed handle..:)
The one above is a Canadian Type E with an Ivory seamed handle and the one below is a somewhat rarer USA made Type E 3 with a seamed handle...To muddy the waters further there was also a somewhat rare USA made Type E 4 with a Seamed Butterscotch handle and also a Type G 1 with a Seamed Butterscotch handle...:p
    Confused ?...:angry019:

The bottom line is that you must identify the G & E Types not by their handle colour per se but by the patent numbers as mentioned above...:eatdrink013:

I owe Personna injector blades an apology. In the latest Pal I received they shaved like a dream. Very sharp and smooth. I think the problem was the head design of the first Pal I tried them in. _IGP6455.JPG

    Thanks Billy!!

Att. Everyone! This is a Brillient Thesis on the Eversharp-Shick Type G and also clears up alot of questions about some Type E anomalies....

If we had stickies here at the Party, this would certainly be one...But its now here and we can search it easier for future reference.....Bravo to our Resident Injector Historian BillyFergie for this Excellent Reportage.....:happy096:
