I am there with you Vince. My only big purchase for 2016 will be another Wolfman whenever James opens up new orders.
Care should be pretty similar to a straight, so you have it covered. Looking forward to reading about it.
well that's all well and good Clint, but you do know that the last part of your comment is further enabling me!!! (especially when I read your comparisons of the Mongoose and the Wolfman so carefully!!!
Hi Clint. As I understand, a western kamisori has the same grind on each side of the blade, unlike a traditional kamisori. I simply think I would like it better than a traditional folder with the scales.
Sorry about that. Don't worry, even if you order a Wolfman it will take most of 2016 for you to get it.
That makes a lot of sense. Your experience with the pain stick should translate really well. Good luck in your search.
Planned SOTD - 24 November 2015 No Variation November! Utopia 3-piece Gillette Silver Blue (2) L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic Proraso Red Alum TSD ISZ AS Splash under Pinaud Lilac Vegetal Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
I enjoyed our lunch too and I really appreciate the soaps that you gifted me! I'm sure I'll enjoy them. It's nice to finally meet someone from the forum in person. As for scent, my nose may not be as sensitive as some others. I couldn't detect much from one of my Kiss My Face creams when I face lathered, but it came out better when it was in the scuttle. Maybe the Strop Shoppe will be the opposite. I'll try face lathering in the morning and let you know. My wife can smell things I can't and can hear far better than me too. I guess that's one reason why she's my better half.
Thanks guys! This is helpful. I'm considering something like this, although I believe that Charlie Lewis razors are scarce. It may be more accurate to refer to them as "one piece" rather than "western kamisori."
Vince, Clint has it out for the both of us. The Wolfman appears to be great razor, judging from his descriptions of it.
Thanks Seth! I agree. Unfortunately, they are in short supply and are therefore hard to get. Maybe I can find something similar from another artisan.
I'll let you know if I find anything similar as well. I love that style, and frequently looks at SR like that, but didn't even consider that possibility! Looks like I have something new to drool over!
Thanks Vince. You've tried quite a few razors this year, so I'm very interested in your impressions. It will be interesting to see how your 2016 focus shapes up. Please, let's not get carried away with "No Buy '16" around here. That's just crazy talk.
No you have your pain stick and 1 piece razor to keep you entertained for a while. No not a No Buy 2016 "Rule" but a Enjoy What You Have 2016 "Focus". Remember you can take a break from a "Focus" and come back. At least that's my plan.
The care is the same as a regular straight razor. I have a Portland Razor Co western Kamisori and its my favorite razor. I find the kami is easier to manure because it doesn't have scales.
