Use my new textured E2 today. I immediately noted that this razor is much more aggressive than my G8. Face is a little sore and I tried to take my time. I'm gonna have to take a close look at the razor and a close look at my technique.

Nice one...That's a lovely example...Yeah...The early Type E 2 is deceptively more aggressive then the G Types...Here is the thing...Paradoxically they are a lot smoother than a G Type and can be allusively aggressive without realizing it...A lighter touch at first & then you will get to know how much pressure you can get away with it...I usually use a light touch for my first couple of passes & a Tad of Pressure on my last ATG Pass...If you take a closer look at the E 2 you will find that the blade gap is much the same as a G Type...Here is the thing...The comb sits further back in the E2 which offers more blade exposure...:p

A Chick blade is a good combo in the E 2 as well although I always use Dutch made NOS Schick Super Chromium/Plat blades... I have recently started to use a Cut down Feather Pro with great results...You will get used to it after a few shaves & get used to how deceptively aggressive it can be...;)

I took this just now in not ideal light conditions...The early Type E 2 is on the left & the G Type on the right...If you look closely you will notice that the E 2 comb sits a tad lower then the G Type..Thus the comb is sitting closer to the blade and offering more exposure on the E 2...Its hard to see here but there is no visible gap between the comb & the blade on the E 2 compared to the G Type on this horizontal plane...This is the difference & what makes it more Aggressive...I reckon there is about a three quarter of a millimetre more blade exposure on the Type E 2 compared to the G Type....;)

The difference in blade gap can be seen more clear in this pic I took some time ago...The one on the left is an early Type E 2 the same as one above only with a smooth gold finish... The one on the right is my Black Handled Canadian Type E 5 that has a full one Millimetre more of a blade exposure than the Type E 2...Now..You can see Why...This Canadian Type E is a Monster...It was the most Aggressive Type E that was ever made...:p

That looks to be quite a difference. I will be shaving with my American E2, Canadian E2 and my PAL injecto-matic next month. I may try to pick up a G for comparison. Any suggestions? I will be using Chick blades as that is all i have at the moment. Suggestions on other blades ?

    Thanks

All the G Types have the same Head...The variations are only cosmetic...The Type G 1 with the Ivory Seamed Handle is the most common & usually cheapest to buy...Just bear in mind that there was different Type E 2 variants in terms of aggression ...The one we are talking about here is the early Type E 2 that opened...The one that opened is the most aggressive Type E 2...Chick blades are fine in Type E 2 s & the PAL Injectomatic....They work particularly well in the PAL Injectomatic... I personally prefer NOS Schick blades in my Type E 2 but the Cut down Feather Pro blade work exceptionally well in them and are up there with any NOS blade ever made...They are also easier to get hold of and probably cheaper than NOS blades...:p

That Black Handled Canadian Type E is an early one that was made by the Schick Repeater Razor Company and they are very rare...The difference in blade gap is substantial compared to any other Type E and its a Friggin Awesome Shaver...

My usa E2 is the early type. My Canadian E2 is the later that does not open. I will get some feather blades. Good to know about the G's i will look for one i like the looks of.
Trimming the feather blades is there a post on how to do that?
Thanks for answering all of our questions. Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for the razor lesson Billy! I compared my G and the E and I see the difference you speak of. I also noticed that my blade is not quite straight and I'm able to move the top slightly. (It's an injector slant? LOL) Is it possible to carefully bend the spring a bit to tighten things up?

    Here is what to do...

    1. Take Feather Pro Blade from its Magazine
    2. Sit a standard injector blade flat on top of it for the correct size
    3. Cut the Feather Pro blade with a sharp pair of scissors
    4. Slip the cut down Feather Pro Blade into a Standard injector magazine
    4. Inject your blade into your razor as normal

    Some Tips...;)

You need a very sharp pair of kitchen scissors with a serrated cutting edge....Make the cut on the sharp edge of the blade...Its easier to get a clean cut that way...Make sure that you cut the side that's going into the razor & not the side that's going to be pushed into the magazine...This makes it easier to get it into the standard injector magazine...If you by any chance get any ruff edges just buff it with a Women's nail file... Its a two minute job to be honest...;)

This is a problem that can happen with injectors laying around with no blade in them for long period's of time...They were designed to have constant tension on the spring with a loaded blade...If its not too loose you can gently Tweak the spring with a set of long nose pliers..I would suggest that you speak to @Karl G on this one as he has had success in tightening up more than a few with similar issue's...;)
