I finally bought my first straight razor in the wild. I bought it because I thought it was a beauty. I did no research, other than what I have learned from you guys. I knew to look for cell rot, excessive hone wear, smiles, etc. I saw this in a junk shop and knew it was leaving with me. I had asked about razors and the guy had pulled out four straights. Three beaters and this beauty. He was asking $85.00 and I talked him down to $45.00 for this razor and $5.00 for an aluminum handled brush. I felt like it was $50.00 well spent. It needs to be honed, but I think it is in good shape otherwise. I posted this in "The Haul" thread and it was suggested that I post it here as well. I hope I learned well from you guys Next step, get it honed and learn to use it!
Very nice razor. Be careful to keep the scales dry and in a cool dark place when you aren't using it.
Great razor!!! +1 for Glen! +1 for his bench strop!! I need to pull the trigger on his bench strop. It looks awesome and YOU KNOW it works if he's making them. I hope they are in stock soon.
I have one of his bench strops that was PIFed to me. The razor is in the mail to him for honing. I can't wait
And the aluminum handled brush... I've seen photos of a particular brush handle that I'd like to own. If it looks like this, you scored big.
