Does your mom take advantage of her local senior center while in Florida? (Activities&general information).
Ok, so here goes some sharing. Finally, yesterday an ultrasound examination let us know that the lump (or what medical professionals refer to as a tumor) in my 19 months old daughter neck/throat has receded totally. We spent two weeks in uncertainty (i.e. agony) in the hospital in September/October, with every doctor or different kind of test pointing in the direction of the word that starts with a c. I literally couldn't get myself at the time to say the full word out loud. Spending time in a cancer ward for children - I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. It's not only painful thinking of one's own, but also from seeing all the other kids, in pain, isolated, without hair, struggling to eat, to take their medication, .. I can cry just from writing about it now. After those two weeks, including an MRI and scytology/biopsy, they finally landed on the lump being infection related. Obviously, we rejoiced, but there has been a "ghost lurking in the background" (don't know if there's an English equivalent, but I think you get the metaphor) ever since, as they couldn't really tell what it was. Now they are certain that their conclusion was right. I can finally relax. I was told by parents of kids in that ward that the two weeks that we were going through were the worst. It's not until now that we are starting to feel normal, rested again. For the parents out there, I think you have an idea of how my day has been. A little bit of everything, actually; joy and melancholy, laughter and tears.
My sister decided not to know in advance. I told her that was really unfair since I should know whether I was going to be an aunt or an uncle.
Maybe she'll let you name the baby. If it's a girl you can call her Denise. If it's a boy you can call him Denephew.
True story: About 4 or 5 years back, I was at the monthly technology coordinators meeting for the school region service center - usually some notes about what going on on their end, what's going on in our schools that may help others, and often times lunch provided... Which, of course, comes with the added benefit of listening to a vendor's sales pitch. Anyway, this company, CDI computers, sells refurbished computers, with 3-5 year warranties - we'd actually already purchased some of them before, pretty good deal, especially with a warranty. They're out of Canada, so they're used to their fishes. Someone here in Texas took them out fishing while they were here, and one of the guys kept pronouncing crappie (which is perch, if you didn't already know), the way it's fun to say - "crappy". Most everyone was having a good laugh, but I couldn't take it anymore, raised my hand and said " it's pronounced "crah-pee"; "crappy" is what you call it when you don't catch any fish
Yeah, it's one of those regional pronunciations we tend to say crappy here in North Georgia and Alabama, they say crah-py elsewhere. But either way they're good eating.
My family is from Alabama, I was born in Mobile, and its always been crah-pee, in our circle at least. Either way, your are correct.... Deeeeeelicious
Yes, there's a world apart from South Alabama and North Alabama. The same in Georgia. A different set of settlers.
