  1. Great setup. I like your lathered up brush and the box for your razor. Did I tell you I like cases and boxes for razors. Probably did.:)
  2. Yes you did! Thanks. The box is pristine.
  3. It looks in great shape from what I can see.
  4. That sure looks like one fine lather......................
  5. Thank you for your kind words, Clint! :)

    Gillette Silver Blue (4)
    La Toja Shave Stick
    L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
    Alum
TSD ISZ AS Splash under Barbus

    Have a great Friday afternoon!
    :)
  13. Had a very enjoyable shave this morning and got to try out some things for the first time.

Merkur MII w/ Schick cartridge: VERY pleasant handle. Well balanced albeit a fair bit towards the handle and very comfortable to hold. I had the cartridge-end of the razor in the mug with some warm water while I was soaking the brush in it and I noticed that the handle retained a lot of the warmth in it for the duration of the shave - a rather nice thing on a chilly morning.

I also got to use the Slovenian Barbus A/S for the first time this morning. This is a product that has quite a bit of history to it as the formula has not been changed since the 1950's and it can be had relatively inexpensively for $6 w/ free shipping. It's been described as an inexpensive take on Floid Blue and even though I didn't quite agree with the scent of the Barbus (to my nose it was rather medicinal smelling with a strong alcohol smell) - but I can't argue with how it feels on your skin. Very, very pleasing and even though it's been 4-5 hours since my shave this morning I can still feel the softness/smoothing effects of it on my face.

I'm getting 'used' to the ginormous 30mm Kent T12 brush but it's very close to being 'too big'. We'll see.

Hope y'all had a great shave and an even better day.

  14. Un bon rasage de la façon canadienne! (A good shave the Canadian way!)

    Saturday morning:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Astra day 6
First Canadian Polar Vortex SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Henri et Victoria Bergamot Vetiver AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

Hein la, c'est bien froid en calisse - on gele les cacaouettes! (Hey there, it's damned good - we freeze off our cojones!) Believe me, it really is damned good. The Polar Vortex soap made in Barrie, Ontario may smell a little too mild but it still has a nice scent and does it ever lather super-rich with TONS of icy menthol. Its post-shave care is also terrific. The Bergamot Vetiver aftershave made in Gatineau, Quebec smells beautiful, and it's a menthol a-bomb with fantastic skincare - no moisturizer is needed! ;) :D

  15. Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
Razor - Gillette Fat Handled Tech
    Blade - Perma-Sharp Super (#3)
    Brush - Vie-Long 04312 Cachurro Horse
Soap - Arko with Orange & Cinnamon EO
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBS+

After a prolonged period of deliberation on horse hair brushes, I finally bit the bullet on the Cachurro today. Fantastic bit of kit, I'll post a review at a later date.
Blade wise, these really are top notch, extremely comfortable, especially in my much-loved Tech. It always feels like I'm shaving with a piece of jewellery.

    ZCOLDWATER1.jpg

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #30RS Silver Tip
    DeFitch Three Piece Razor
    Personna Super Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block

    Pinaud Clubman AS

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #30RS Silver Tip brush. Two passes with my DeFitch Three Piece Razor and a Personna Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
