I was looking for pipe and stem polishes and decided on this sampler The pipes a nice little pipe, a good smoker but nothing special. The butane lighter insert fits into a Zippo lighter case, I've got another lighter case I like better than this one. I'll have to charge it with butane and see how well it works. This arrived yesterday evening, si I haven't tried anything other than the pipe.

I'm with you on that. If I've got the slightest bit of cold, sinus infection, or allergy symptoms, smoking is a no go for me.
I've come down with something as well. I'll also be laying off the pipe for a few days till it clears up.
Lane 1-Q in a Chacom Virgin Lovat in front of a firepit on a cool, clear evening. It was well over an hour and a half to finish the bowl. This was my first bowl with the 1-Q and I was very impressed, a mild, cool burning light aromatic. I can see why it's reported as the top selling blend.
Lane 1-Q in a rusticated Decatur, before the sun set today. 2nd smoke in the pipe, still needs some breaking in.
I got an ounce of a shop blend called suicide from my local shop. It's the leftovers of everything they have. It was only $1.00 an ounce so I am going to give it a try.
It smells very strong. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at once. It's very sweet smelling but smoky with a spicy smell too. Way to many smells to single out anything except smokiness.
Lane 1-Q in a Chacom Excellence. I decided to stick with the 1-Q thru a pipe rotation to judge the relative smoking qualities of the pipes. This one smoked well, so I guess it's time to give it a good sprucing up, I only did a cursory cleaning with everclear when I first got it. There's some tar on the rim and oxidation on the stem to clean off, and the bowl is a bit dull.
Lane 1-Q in a Dr Grabow Viscount, with a Jack Daniels and coconut water in a double wall glass with an ice ball. The Viscount was a very nice smoker also, although it has a stinger and I prefer a pipe I can pass a pipe cleaner thru. It may just be a psychological thing though, because it was a nice, dry smoke.
Thanks! It's from Nolan's Tobacconist in Traverse City, MI, USA. Great little shop by the shore in the middle of the old city. One of the most impressive cigar humidors I've ever walked into. Their pipe tobacco selection is small, but they have a couple of walls of some nice pipes.
