Great shave tonight. Getting great shaves with the 38C but still don't like how it feels to the hand.

It was a great combo. I haven't used Palmolive in so long, and now I am not sure why. It is great, and it definitely pairs nicely with Clubman.

I am enjoying this combination. I am doing the combo for five days and then I will change it up again. So, I will have done 6 different combos during December as opposed to 1 combo for all of NoVember. I missed using the MFW, and I am glad to use it again. I will be doing some samples for the rest of December.

    The Twelve Blades of December!

Hard to believe we've almost put this year to bed. Wow. Where did the time go? But, here we are and as a gift to everyone here I'm offering up my shaves with twelve blades that have never touched my face, randomly paired with twelve of my DE razors. Two shaves with each setup to finish on Xmas Eve. So, sit back, get the fire burning and enjoy what I hope is an enjoyable month of further proof Technique Trumps Tools. I hope for that....my expectations aren't as optimistic.

    Razor - '46-'47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Brush - Wolf Whiskers Silvertip
    Soap - Proraso Green
Post - Cold water, Alum, Proraso

Day two for the Dorco Prime. Does anyone besides me think that Dorco is a very unfortunate name for a company....or anything else for that matter? Just sounds stupid to me. Anyway, on to the second day to see what happens with this blade. Definitely not a top of the line blade but yesterday wasn't bad. Derby level so mid-tier on that shave. Today I have the Wolf Whiskers badger and Proraso Green in a tub to give it a menthol kick and help it out.

First pass pretty unremarkable, just like yesterday. Second pass XTG and I felt a creeping sensation on my neck. The Proraso menthol/eucalyptus beginning to chill? Or......the dreaded irritation. Rinsed good and checked it over. Still needed a third pass and my neck is turning a bit red. It isn't the menthol. It's the blade. Went ATG on the third pass and Gillette Slide on the neck and I feel the irritation now. No doubt about it. And, the finish today was less than yesterday. The feel tonight confirms that it was a barely DFS. Definite drop in performance while adding irritation on day two. Alum confirmed the irritation with a nice consistent burn over the whole area. That takes the Prime out of mid-level for me. It's a one-shave wonder that I wouldn't bother putting in a razor again. I'm too old and have too few shaves left to waste on on a sub-par blade. Sorry, but this blade passed it's prime when it came off of the production line.

Tomorrow should be interesting, one way or the other. It's the '47 Super Speed, a great razor but the blade is the Gentle Man. What do I know about this blade? It is a double edge razor blade with a platinum coating. That's it. Nothing else. Don't know where it comes from or anything else. This could be interesting. I'd be open to hearing any info any of you might have on this blade. I'm hoping the Super Speed is able to compensate for any likely weaknesses on the part of this blade.

Until then, enjoy your Friday night and Saturday!

it's ok, I'm my opinion is just ok. the smell is ok, good face condition after(soothing), not greasy or sticky. but it lacks a certain savior FLARE. that is to say, it was ok, it just didn't finish with a flare, just a fare.

Your post gives me the confidence to try my Rise Super Foam and Clubman. I've been wanting to, but on a "nothing" day, just to test it out.

    SOTD Saturday 5 December

Received two new items yesterday and impatiently took them in use this morning: Fitjar Fjellheim cream and a c410k Hurricane 3D printed top cap replacement for r41. Wow! This is the closest to a straight I've ever come with a DE. The original cap is a lot wider and the Hurricane shows one to two millimeters or so more of the blade on each side. The loudest and most aggressive razor I have used to date. BBS in two passes.

RazoRock Mission handle with R41 base plate and Aimsport Hurricane top cap.
    RazoRock Chubby brush
    Fitjar Fjellheim cream
The Mod Cabin Backwoods toner & aftershave

    GOOD MORNING TSD!! SOTD 12/05/15

    Razor-Gillette Old Style OC
    Blade-Wilkinson Sword(4)
    Lather-C.O.Bigelow
    Brush-Badger
    Three Passes-Wtg,Xtg,Atg
    Post Shave-Cold Water Rinse,Witch Hazel Splash,Barbasol Pacific Rush A/S

A late morning shave for me today due to a mutual aid fire call at 12:15 am didn't get back home until 3:00 am so no pictures either sorry.
The Old Style gave a great shave with the Wilkinson blade on day 4
My no name badger brush face lathered the C.O. Bigelow nicely, and I think the Pacific Rush A/S paired well with the lather.
So all in all a DFS+++ shave only due to lack of sleep and focus on my part so off to work I go.:)

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERY ONE!!!!:eatdrink013:
