I was hoping you got it. That looks like it will clean up nicely! :happy088:

By coincidence I had decided to try out the early type E2 I bought for my son tomorrow. I decided to put a modified Feather in it based on an earlier post from Billy. Otherwise, I'd be sticking with the Schick. Be prepared for a most excellent shave. :git:

Been looking for one of these (L1s?) for some time as I think the white handle is rather fetching on it. After three weeks+ in transit this finally arrived :)

I never saw one in white before but I get the attraction - it looks great. Schick did the same black/white thing with the I1. Here it is:

Good thing I stopped with the I and haven't considered the higher letters of the alphabet (with one recent exception... someone had to go and post soft porn pics of an O... )

Thanks, yeah it's purty. I think @Hodge has a white, cased one as well.

I am using a cut down Feather Pro Blade at the moment in my early E 2 like this one but as Karl suggested a Chick blade does nicely in this injector...Enjoy your Maiden Shave Vince...:)

The Black Handled L 1 was also getting posted through folks doors as one of those freebie jobs in a Tin with Twin blades...;)

A couple of new additions to my collection:

These are both single edge razors and were even made within a decade or so of each other, but I do not think it is possible to find two razors that are less alike.

On the left is a C. V. Heljestrand. It was manufactured in Sweden and uses wedge blades.

On the right is a Canadian manufactured Schick E type. I blame Billy for whetting my interest in these. It has the offset cutout in the spring, but tabs on both sides of the spring indicating that it should not be opened for cleaning. Fortunately there are no scratches or other indications that anyone has tried.

Last night I honed one of the Heljestrand blades (200 laps on a 1200 DMT to set the bevel, then 100 laps each on 12, 9, 3, 1 and .3 micron lapping film) and shaved with it this morning.

Even with my inexpert honing the Swedish steel takes a wicked edge, and 3 passes resulted in something close to BBS. The Heljestrand shaves like no other razor, due in part to its heavy weight (2.7 oz without a blade - for comparison a Kampfe Star 1902 lather catcher weighs just over an ounce) and also due to the blade being closer to perpendicular to the handle than is the case with most lather catchers. Nonetheless I found it fairly intuitive.

If the supply of SE blades ever dries up, I'm ready.

Tomorrow, the Canadian Schick E2 - unless I decide to have another go with the Heljestrand. :happy088:

Yeah Karl.....Very cool to help hook our man RU with the quintessential Schick....Youre gonna love it Mr.R....I'm thinking Billy and Tom might be spot on about recommending the Chinese Schick blades for the E2....very aggressive but also smooth...and I can't get enough of those butterscotch handles...probably my favorite handles of all time...just look so right...
Billy.....you need to try these twinjector blades in the repeaters....I'm thinking, some folks find the new injector blades to skinny to fit tight in their C types...maybe these would be perfect....also, seems like most jamming in my C3 is because the new blades are thinner....maybe thes guys would fix that too....

    What do you think?

I love the Heljestrand - I think of it as the Nordic Beauty. A nice one just went off on eBay - complete with blades for each day of the week - but I think yours looks to be in even better condition. It is truly a thing of beauty. :love055:

Absolutely Sir...That's my next mission...Twin blades in a Repeater ..As far as loading goes...I just do it by hand cause the modern blades can jam them up cause they are thinner... :p

Great write-up Karl....Congratulation on the Little Lather Catcher...Those razors are such a great blast from ths past....I love the feed-back you get in sound and the vibrations through the handle....So Karl....is the ER 1914 on your short list ?

Thats one thing I mean....These guys are thicker....if they will fit through the slot, then maybe, they are the answer....woo-hoo!

If I had any, I'd be trying to load one right now....Don't know why I never thought of it before....I would check to see if it fits the slot, from the outside first...If that test came back positive....schlack-schlack

Well, it's close to 15 hours later and some stubble is just coming in so it's held it's own with some of the best. I'm thinking a future shave off with my Louis for the champ of the non-injectors may be in order. There was just something darn enjoyable about using it.
