  2. In 2016, I am thinking of keeping a journal of every pipe bowl I smoke...never done it before

  3. Wow! That's actually a really awesome Idea. I may have to try that as well. I keep a regular journal and a hunting/fishing journal; but a pipe journal actually never crossed my mind. Please tell me you thought this up while smoking a pipe and just ruminating? lol

  4. I was breaking up the Pebble Cut and wondering how many bowls that pipe has seen.

  5. Having some Samuel Gawith Navy Flake in my Dr. Grabow El Dorado. This is the first time I've been able to get a Sam Gawith tobacco to smoke right! Sadly, not a great tobacco in my opinion. Will have to try again and see if I get better results.

  6. I really don't care for the Lakeland style. Danish Flake is the good stuff for my taste.

  7. Have to agree. I finally got it to burn right; but I don't care for the flavor and room note. Never had that problem with a Danish Flake. Love OGS, Gatsby Luxury and Mac Baren Latakia Flake. Also thinking I'm going to grab some Stokkbye Luxury Navy Flake. Looking at the P&C build your own sampler where you pick 5 tobaccos and get 2oz of each.

  8. I cannot recommend the Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake enough. It is one of the only true "modern" classics out there. It is not exactly the same as OGS, but I enjoy it every bit as much, and could smoke it forever.

  13. I think that generally speaking I would agree with you; but I do like SG's Chocolate Flake and even FVF pretty well. FVF is a thick flake, causing some difficulty in rubbing out, and is difficult to keep lit. MVF is pretty good, but a bit pricy for a bulk tobacco, but it is a good straight Virginia and easier to keep kit. Now SG Squadron Leader is a superb latakia blend. I also have a couple of unopened tins of SG Skiff, which has more orientals than latakia, nd many folks think it superior to Squadron Leader. Squadron Leader and Skiff are not flakes, and easily lit.

  14. FVF and MVF taste fine, I iust struggle with them too much for it to be enjoyable.

  15. I enjoy a cigar from time to time, but the ritual and relaxation of the pipe always brings me home.

  16. I have a tin of that. @Lo'Gosh writes glowingly of it. Might be time to open it. I've just finished smoking all my open stuff. The only things I have going are OGS, Pebble Cut, and Wessex Burley...time to place an order. :)

Try Pebble Cut. You'll dig it, no doubt. Spicy VaPer flavors...really well done, but let it dry a bit.

The Wessex Burley is on par with Solani 656, but it's a different blend. My second bowl was quite enjoyable, but I am still trying to figure the blend out. The Wessex is nutty and spicy. It's a rare uncased Burley, like 656. Nicotine level didn't seem too strong either, so probably fine for you to try Wessex. I also recommend drying both Burley flakes a bit after rubbing out thoroughly.

  18. Oh yeah, Viprati is some goooood stuff. I really wish you could get the Marquee series in 8oz tins like the standard H&H blends, or in bulk.

Also, enjoying some Comoys Cask #1 in my Macqueen Ranger. This pipe is a really great smoker for non aromatics. I find that Aromatics tend to be a hot smoke, even in a churchwarden, though they do calm down if you dry them right. But a churchwarden with a good non aro blend; it's just magic!

  20. I just got a P&C catalog in my mailbox and while thrift store shopping found an unopened 40 pack of Dill's brand pipe cleaners for $0.50. It's hard to resist a paper catalog. Much easier to look through for me. Might smoke a pipe later. I'm debating battling the cold out for it.
