Smoked 2 pipes earlier. Captain Black Gold in my Dr Grabow and OGF in my little basket pipe. It has "BRUYÉRE GARANTIE" stamped into the side of it but no other markings. Both smoked very well all the way to the bottom with the only relights being when I went in and out of the stores.
French or Belgian made pipe, I would guess. Might be a really nice piece of briar. I have a couple of French counter pipes that are awesome smokers. I post them as Humidor Counter Pipe. They were made in the 70s. I have two NOS Ø set back for when I retire. I figure the pipes were made about when I was born, so I am letting the briar cure for 65 years (God willing) post drilling. I acquired them from the shop in Huntsville, AL, this past spring. The owner allowed me to buy them for the price that had been written on them in 1975...$23.99 each. I was so grateful to get the chance. I just asked him if he had anything interesting I should see. He was about to display them for sale. Italian made, Algerian briar, forty years old. These were in actuality fairly pricey for their day. Since it's the Internet.... Now back to the vault for 24 more years. And inspired by you... Late night pipe of OGS, in my fave Kaywoodie, out in the garage. Folded and stuffed.
Yes, it takes the standard medico filters. It's got a 1/32" thick gold plated band on the shank that polished up nicely, it was pretty tarnished when I got it.
Midmorning pipe. Lane 1-Q in a Weber Golden Walnut. The rain is supposed to start after noon and probably continue all thru tomorrow, so I may only get one more pipe in for the weekend. It will cool things off a bit though, it just doesn't seem right having the AC on in December.
I'm going to dedicate each of my pipes to a tobacco since I have 3 of both. My counter pipe for Cap Black Gold, my Kaywoodie for the suicide blend from the local shop and my Dr Grabow for OGS. My fiance has hinted at a kit from P&C that has 3 tobaccos and 3 cob pipes so I may have a briar for each type and a cob for each type. Aromatic, English and non Aromatic. I think that will help me when I try new tobaccos. Going to pack my Kaywoodie bulldog with Suicide and smoke in just a few min. Its almost 80 degrees out here and at this time of year its normally about a foot under snow.
Its wonderful briar. I don't see any fills its just that the holes don't line up quite right. I have had it for years and have smoked who knows how many bowls out of it and it smoked to the bottom of the bowl for the first time without relighting every puff of the last 1/4 inch of bowl. the draw hole is slightly higher then it should be. Those 2 pipes you have are very nice looking. At that price you stole them. One day I'll get fold and stuff down pat but I haven't so far. I'll try again next time I smoke OGF.
@Bama Samurai , Have you used the balsa filters yet? If you have how are they working out? Better or worse then the paper or carbon filters? I have my eye on some lots on eBay and they include filter pipes.
OGS folded and stuffed in my Dr Grabow. I probably will not fold and stuff anymore as this has been one of the hardest to smoke bowls I've ever had. I either can't keep it lit or something sticks in the draw hole at the bottom of the pipe. rub out it is from now on.
I don't post here much but I've come back to pipes lately. My new love are the corn cob pipes from Missouri Meerschaum. I've had frog morton on the town and the Orlik Golden Slices samples which I got from @BamaT , pure joy with a corn cob
