DR Harris Marlborough is up for it's SR test. Today I added some liquid lanolin which seemed to help. I was a little worried about using this with a straight so I picked my easiest shaving straight a PRC kamisori. Got through all 4 passes without any rough feeling, everything felt right. While this is not an ideal cream for SR shaving in my opinion it was adequate and the addition of lanolin made a huge difference, it felt a little slicker and the aftershave feel was much better.

I had high expectations as I tested for the irritation and closeness. The alum gave me only the faintest tickle, awesome. I thought I had nailed the BBS but faceturbating revealed I was very close but not quite there. All in all an excellent shave.

  2. I does help 'tighten' up you skin, close any weepers and brings blood closer to the surface to facilitate healing. Plus it feels refreshing. After a rough shave I will rub ice on my face.
  3. Yes and no. Huge like it hold a ton of lather very easy, The Pro 48 may be a bigger brush but this Silvertip is soft...
  4. :thanks:
  5. Same rule applies after chopping habanero peppers
  6. I used mine for 11 days in a row as part of my focus and have decided that it is moving back into my rotation. Great shaves.
  7. Wow, I've been busy for a few days and got a little behind on this thread. Lots of shenanigans to wade through
I switched to my birth quarter Slim a few days ago. I started at a setting of four and moved to six today. I definitely like the Slim on the higher numbers. With lite pressure, it does two pass BBS with very little cleanup. I have to say that I am also becoming a fan of Route 66 soaps. I'm torn between a description of great or amazing on the Sweeney Todd

  8. Gee, those are some of my best qualities! LOL
  9. Agreed!

Route 66 is so nice, I've used it twice. Matched up the Hair Tonic and the AS with the scent of the R66 Lumberjack for today's kit. Also, for @TomJ89de , I threw an Astra SP into the mighty, mighty MTO (Weishi 9306). This razor is highly underrated, IMHO. At this point I need to mention that Route 66 is flawless lather. Flawless in every way. Made sure to keep the angle low by riding the cap, and was rewarded with a near BBS on two+. Alum was good, AV Musk was a perfect match to the base notes in the soap. 17F with a foot of new white stuff on Tuesday. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!
    :)
  11. No shave today. I'm having blood sugar issues and am shaking worse then I feel comfortable shaving with. I'm eating and trying to get myself high enough to last through the night.
  12. May be the picture, but it looks to me like it was honed with an angle grinder.

  14. I pray you get relief my brother. Hang in there!
  15. I use cold water exclusively and gave up pre shave oil. The rationale is that heat encourages inflammation, and oil defeats lather. When I first began DE shaving, I too used a hot prep routine and shave oil, and also experienced much irritation. The only prep I engage in now is a simple hand wash of my face in cold water and maybe some mild soap. I can't find the source material, but I have read that more than half of the material removed by the razor is actually dead skin cells. After I read that, @Jayaruh explained his "cold water/face lather" method to me, and I tried it. I've been doing no prep and using cold water ever since, and nearly all of my shaves are now irritation free.
  16. Its a normal thing for me. Happens every week or two. My blood sugar drops and I have to eat everything in sight until it levels out. They keep telling me that I'm prediabetic. My fiance is a type 1 diabetic and I was a med tech for the last 4 years so I should be able to handle it if I ever slip over that line and become a full blown diabetic. I take as much care of myself as I'm able. I eat well, mostly vegetarian because my fiance is and its easier to make one meal. I exercise, I don't really drink except once every blue moon, I only smoke my pipe every now and then. I'm feeling better now and my blood sugar is back in a normal range but I still feel shaky so I'm going to wait till morning to shave. I've been sick the last few days and today the meds I took put me into a long deep sleep on the couch from 10am to 4pm so I will probably be up all night.
  17. Is that red scaled razor a ЯХТА. If it is you'll have to tell us how it shaves. They are always on eBay for very little $$$ in great condition. theres a NOS one for a BIN of $40 on my watch list now.
  18. Mark, take care of yourself. Hope you feel better today.
  19. Excellent post and picture of good products. Did you get any snow?:)
