Well...You helped to inspire me recently & I must say that I am enjoying it...The stropping is just a thing to do as part of Pre & Post Shaving Routine ...Not sure what I am doing but the blade is sharper after my stropping ...At least its not getting any blunter...Slowly slowly Catch the Monkey...Its a lovely experience...Oh..Yeah..Glad you like the King Cobra...She's a Beauty ..;)

I think I just stepped into the right place

I need some help identifying these two Schick razors. I like to do a " twinning T day theme for the SOTD. I also like to learn as much as possible about each razor as well.
I did some searching online and found some pics and a history of the company but not any type of a pictorial date guide.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

The one on the left is a Schick Type I 1 & the second one is a Type G 8 with the ribbed handle....The Type G 8 is the more aggressive of the two...:)

Thanks, I will try them out this week. I'm guessing the old blades are usable. They look brand new. Any difference between the Schick and the Ever-Ready blades ?

Those Schick Plats are good blades & should be good to Go in both Injectors..The Eversharp blades you have there are Junk with a Capital J...You can use Twin blades in the Type I 1 and I can promise you that this razor combo will offer the shave of your life...There are NOS Twin blades on the Bay at the moment or you can purchase current Schick Twin blades that are made in Japan also from the Bay...:p

The current single blades available are Chinese Schick Injector blades & Personna or Ted Pella blades...The Personna/Pella blades are one and the same...Different brand name is all...I would personally recommend the Personna/Pella blades for both these injectors as they can be very mild with the Chinese ones but that's me talking you might find otherwise...;)

Lots of great information, I appreciate it.
One question though, twin blade ? As in two ?
Is it a cartridge head ? Lol.

Also there seems to be a few types of SE blades that look similar. No thick handle (?) part. They look longer , made by personna but Feather also. Is there a specific name I should look for ? Just injector type ?

The Twin blade is in the centre of this shot...Its not a Cartridge Head...The Twin Blades come in an Injector Magazine the same as the ones you have there...These Twin Blades are not like a Cartridge System...They are Two blades of course but unlike Cartridge Twin Blades one is sitting on top of the other with no gap...One just sits a fraction behind the other one...They are literally Wedged together ...I call them a Wedge Twin Blade System... These do not fit the G Type as the heads are tighter than later injectors...;)

Look for injector blades in the magazine with an Injector key...You cant go wrong...The ones I mentioned above...Feather blades are not injector blades....They are longer...Just look for Chinese Schick Injector blades as below...:p

Or...Personna/Pella..These are older ones but the current magazines look the same...:)

Not the most painless shave this morning...and I bled..from several places.
Having said that - it's pretty much my own fault.

I wanted to try out the Proguard blade in the King Cobra as I really liked it in the Mongoose and I felt it would be easier that way to compare the two razors to eachother.

    Queue recipe for disaster:
Use the blade 6-7 times in your Mongoose, have it lying around on a shelf for a week or so, plop it into the rather aggressive King Cobra razor.

    Result:
    About 3-4 weepers.

Pretty sure I'll be using a new, fresh blade the next time :)

    Menthol, Baby!

Prep: cool shower, Nivea Cool body wash, Neutrogena Naturals facial wash
    Razor: Schick G1 injector
    Blade: Chinese Schick (2)
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Badger
Lather: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
Shave: Cold water shave, face lathering, 2 passes; WTG, XTG + Cleanup
Post: Cold water splash, alum, Nivea Sensitive Balm with menthol, Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue splash

Man what a great shave tonight! I decided to load up on the menthol, and do a cold water shave. Normally I like the hot water but I decided to give this another go. I'm glad I did, it was great. The Schick was a joy to use, every time I've used it I've had tremendous shaves, why don't I use it more often? Super sharp blade, balanced, easy to get right angle... I only required 2 passes with barely any touchup to get near perfection. No blood. This combo is a keeper.

    French Louis Hoe Razor..:p

    Another shot..:)

    Three Shaving Pass Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
    French Louis Hoe Razor
NOS Heljestrand hollow ground blade x 2
    Semogue Boar Brush
Erasmic Shaving Soap (added Argan oil)
    Organic Aloe Vera Gel
LOGONA Mann Aftershave Balm (From Germany)

I had a shave today with my French Louis Hoe Razor with a Heljestrand hollow ground blade ...I will just refer to it as a Wedge blade for the purposes of this write up here although I have been informed that its technically a hollow ground..I found the Louis to be a bit more aggressive than the L "Essor that I used the other day...The Louis sits somewhere between the Wilkinson Empire & the L" Essor in terms of aggression...It was just about as smooth as the L" Essor I reckon...I was immediately struck by how sharp the Wedge blade was today...Perhaps my stropping is getting better & or the blade is settling in from being new & unused...Might be a combination of both...:signs002:

I am stropping the Blade x 50 on each side before & after that I shave with it...This was recommended to me from an Old Timer from the USA...This routine seems to be working well for me...It doesn't take as long as one might think..Its like a Ritual & I am enjoying it...Its very rewarding to shave with a blade that you have sharpened yourself...I have came to realize that all this fuss that can be made over the weight of a razor/handles, soaps and angles and whatnot just pales into insignificance when you are going down the Wedge blade Rabbit Hole...There are just more thing to get on with that are far more technical...Just the way it is for me...I was thinking today that the Old Gents from the Past would have a field day about some of the Scientific discussions in Forums..:D

That said..I need to find a Slicker Soap here & I am not willing to stick a Tallow Soap on my face..It was almost all Tallow based soaps that were getting used during the Epoch of these Old Razors..I have something coming from India that just might be the stuff for the job...:p

This is just a get on with Rabbit Hole through Trial & Error..I am getting more confident with my shaves with these Wedge blades...They are Nothing to be Frightened of that's for sure...What I have in my hands is essentially a Short Hollow Ground blade like a Straight...I am so glad that I have experienced a Straight Razor shave here because there are some similarities in the Feel of them at least...Its so easy to have a serious accident with these blades when handling them...They are Evil Sharp & Rigid & have the Capacity to give you a really Bad Day...;)

I done x 2 WTG passes with a slide technique & a Final ATG pass...I have noticed that the stubble in the sink it a lot more finer than a shave with Modern blades...These old blades are the Epitome of Whisker Reduction that's for sure...I have shaved with the Louis with a Modern Gem blade..Here is the thing...I have found that the Louis will offer a closer BBS result with the Gem blade...That said ...The journey is not as enjoyable & or smooth with a Modern Gem blade...Its not like for like or up for comparison I don't think..But hey...Its early days & maybe I will end up with an all over BBS result with the Wedge blade as my stropping skills improves ...:D

I ended up with a DFS result today...The L " Essor seemed to shave that bit closer but there is so many variables going on here...I Damn Fine Shave today & which I really enjoyed...Good Karma..:p

Day two with the type D.....
What a sweet little shaver. This guy loaded with sharp blade is as efficient as any Schick I own and maybe the best injector in my den. Its smoother than my F and early E but decidedly more aggressive and efficient than the later models I own (I J K L M)
Being able to easily open it up for cleaning is a cool function and mine operates perfectly.
Seeing its in near mint condition, I may put this in the display case and only bring it out for special occasions......who am I kidding, I think it'll be a regular in my growing SE/injector rotation :D

I agree with you 100 %...The Type D is far Smoother than the F Type...Its as smooth as any later Schick Injector & as you say its an Aggressive Wee Bugger to Boot...Sneakily Aggressive even...When they moved onto the Type E s ..Something changed for sure...:)
    Glad you like it..:bounce017:

I put my Personna British Executive to work this morning and was rewarded with another really satisfying shave. I feel like I am getting to be a bit of a broken record with this string of great shaves. :D

I was hoping that after multiple shaves with the PAL Adjustable last week that I'd find it easier to find and keep the sweet spot on the Executive. That's exactly what happened. One change in technique that seemed to bring the best out of the Executive was to use short, somewhat quicker strokes, than what I've used in the past. Very smooth shave and a very close shave. :happy036:

I would rate the Executive as a little less aggressive than the trinity of the PAL Injecto Matic, Personna Floating Head, and the PAL Adjustable. I guess this means I'll be ready for the next shave in 26 hours instead of 28... :happy097:
