In about an hour I'm taking my 7 year old to the school's Dad/Daughter Dance. It's a first for both of us...once upon a time I could never have imagined being okay with going (much less having kids). Some upsides to aging after all.
I just did some pretty manly squirrel trapping......in my living room. Poor guy, cute little flying squirrel. When I tossed him out the front door he must have broken something when he hit the ground. I put him out of his misery quickly with a .22. Shovel would have been too messy on the front walk.
Penguinator Information Services just reports the news; they don't invent it. (Please refer to Penguinator Propaganda Services for information invention.)
I walked the orchard with my father. From different trees ate 4 satsumas, and half a navel orange, quality control - to know if there ready. Inspected lemon, Texas Sweet, Mandarin, & Morrow blood orange trees, and the asparagus patch, harvested a couple small jalapeno bushes, picked the near last off the okra, several tomatoes, viewed the Japanese plums in bloom, and the traps set by The Parrish for the beavers that keep damming the neighborhood drain that crosses the east 40. Then enjoyed calf's liver and caramelized onions, with LesSur early peas with mushrooms and onions. Mom knows that's a favorite of mine.
Today I turned the water heater up to 140° where it should have been since it was installed about 2 months ago, but was left around 125° and I didn't think to check. Since then, "allergies" have gotten inexplicably worse to the point where my wife and I appear to have Pontiac fever, a mild form of Legioniaire's when can thrive in under-heated tanks. I'd figured mold had started in from the last tank's leaky death, but I see none of the usual signs. So today I jacked the temp and hot flushed all the taps. We will know in a few days if that's what's been causing it, and I hope it is. This low level malaise has been dragging on for MONTHS now.
Years ago I was "gifted" a snake in a five gallon bucket. Three to four footer in a beautiful random camo and white scale pattern, but unknown history and temperament. I put the young feeder mice in a long crew sock. A good swing and thump on the floor made them stunned or dead, but still warm. My new snake made short work of them. Having been fed, I didn't hesitate to handle it. My daughter adopted the snake shortly after. When your kids run a zoo they learn about the food chain.
Started power washing the house getting ready for paint. Should have been a pretty easy job until the existing paint disintegrated. Like all projects this one grew legs...Now I have a first class mess. Oh well, It'll be nice when its done.
the word "smoke" can be used quite often, with different meanings. Yours is one. Also, sports announces are known to say "wow, he smoked right by him!" or "they smoked 'em tonight!(meaning "beat them").
Good Husband points collected The wife has been bugging me for a few years now that she wanted to do a Christmas Tree on the back porch. I of course told her for years go decorate one out on the ranch So this year we finally went out and cut one down and put up a real Christmas tree outside on the back deck Presenting "Glen "Santa" Bunyan" Note for those of you like me that do not like killing a live tree I made sure we picked one out that looked to have some issues that I thought it might not make it much longer anyway Merry Christmas
