Got a Schick Type G in a lot this week.
Could someone here narrow down the identification/version further than that?

It looks like it's in decent condition and I believe the first one I've owned :)

Also, I noticed that the case is marked with what I assume is the first owner's name: "J. DE GEORGE JR" - the name inscription is so well done it almost looks like Schick did it for the owner. I didn't know they had a customization option like that back in the days and if anyone knows more about that I'd love to learn.

Well..Its not a G Type...Its a later Type E 2 by the looks of that smooth comb...Its covered in that much Crud I cant see it properly...If its a ridge comb by any chance its a Type E 3...Does look like a smooth comb though...Schick did do Personalized Cases & handles with Names & or Initial's on them...It was more common to have the persons name on the handle... The G Types have Two Patent numbers on them as well...This one has one number & Other Pending...;)

Ooops...got a bit dyslectic with the letters there ;)
I'll take a closer look at the comb tomorrow but I think you're right in that its a smooth comb.
Thanks for the identification help! We'll see how it cleans up.

Btw, I found this record for a "John De George Jr".
Born in 1919 he would had been in his 20's when the Type E was made and a likely candidate to maybe receive this as a gift.
He was born in Tennessee and enlisted in Georgia in 1942 when he was 23 years old into the Air corps as an aviation cadet.

I wonder if it maybe was his.

I was getting ready to comment, but Billy beat me to it.....Congratulations Mr Bulb, you are the proud owner of a bouncing baby 'E' .....

I love the G's but I love the Es more....}8^)) For me the E types are simply the quintessential Schick Injectors and their handles are my favorites....

Whoa...I just saw you have answered Billy....man thats so cool you have identified the original owner...:happy096:

I better post this before everyone here at the Den beats me to the punch.....lol

It's weird how thinking you might know who owned the razor some 60 years ago makes it feel more 'special'.
It never ceases to amaze me when I read people selling old razors on the bay and describe them as 'this belonged to my grand father', etc. I would do anything to KEEP that in the family :)

I remember seeing an ad about a razor that belonged to the father or grandfather of the person selling it. They described how the razor had traveled with him through Europe during WWII and brought back home safely. The razor was listed for about $10.

I know...right? Kinda unbelievable....I remember one guy bought a razor from a WWII hero and located the cat's widow and asked if she wanted the razor....Turns out she never sold it...One of the kids had sold it many years ago...But she was VERY appreciative but wanted this guy to keep the razor and she sent him a few copies of newspaper articles about the original owner when he returned to his hometown after the War.....Very Cool...the new owner said it almost brought tears to his eyes....}8^))

A lot of USA Service Men got their names put on Cases & Personal Items to mark their belongings at that time...Still do to this day..:)

And if it is the smooth comb E2 it looks like it is the more unusual or scarce of the four variants of the E2. The spring looks to be notched in the center and the top side has the traditional "horseshoe" design around the rivet. Nice score.

Thanks, maybe I'll snap some better photos once it's a bit cleaner.
I think we need a Schick Wiki page with information and photos of all these various sub-types of razors. Either that or if it's covered in Billy's upcoming book "Holy Schick!"

I've seen personalized Schick injectors and avoided them but was not aware of factory personalization until now. Thanks for the explanation.

The other day my wife gave me my first #5 star shave rating from a shave with my PAL Injecto-matic...
Yesterday I got a fantastic shave from my Schick Simplified Automatic Repeater...I was thinking it was every bit the previous shave's 5 rating...But my swmbo gave it a 4.8 and said "Very Nice, but different set-up than yesterday...you can't fool me..."
Hmmm...but I'll tell ya...that 4.8 was rockin...thats definitely my favorite travel razor aswell as the winner for coolest blade holder in my shave-cave....

That's the first one for a while that has came up in the Mainstream Injector search in full View...The others that have came of recent have all been outwith the Main Injector search for some reason...In addition to that posting Live Bids in Forums is going to push the prices up as well..There are Hundreds of Visitors clicking on to Forums on a Daily Basis that are accessing that Intel...That went for £ 208.00 English...I don't know who got it but his EBay profile doesn't suggest that he is a collector...Ten years from now some of these more Obscure Injectors are going to be worth a Few Dollars More...I would hang onto yours as its going to be a bit of an investment by the looks of things...Sellers are seeing these High prices and Bin offers are getting fewer every month I have noticed...:)

    Three Shaving Pass Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
    Gem Crowned Lather Catcher
NOS Heljestrand Hollow Ground Blade x3
    Semogue Boar Brush
Erasmic Shaving Soap (added Argan oil)
    Organic Aloe Vera Gel
LOGONA Mann Aftershave Splash (From Germany)

I had a shave today with my Gem Crowned Lather Catcher & Heljestrand Hollow Ground Blade...Well..I hit the Money Button Today as I ended up with the most wonderful all over BBS result...The Coveted Dolphin Smooth Finnish...I would have expected this result from an Injector...I have used this Lather Catcher with a current Gem blade but the Wedge blade today just blew that away...The Heljestrand blade today was very sharp & smooth...It felt a bit blunt after my first WTG Pass & I stropped it x 50 times a side and well what can I say...:love055:

The thing is here is that when the blade feels its loosing its edge you just cant pop in another unless you have shave ready spare of course..Something I need to do actually...No hassle though ....Just adds to the excitement and the experience ...On the subject of excitement...I was as excited as a Boy today over my shaving experience....This Gem Crowned Lather Catcher is indeed the Crown Jewel..I have always said that the folks from the USA know how to make some the Best Razors in the World... Oh Yeah...Firearms as well of course....:D

I am learning to dial into the Comb rather than the angle of the blade with this Shaving System...Its a different mind set from shaving with a Modern Shaving System for me anyway...I have discovered that by dialling into the comb everything takes care of its self...That said..For more than a few moments I felt that I could have been shaving with a Modern Injector System... Doesn't quite figure that one I know but there it is...I have to say ...Anybody that thinks that shaving with the Gem Lather Catcher & Heljestrand Hollow ground Blade is a step backwards just needs to experience this for themselves ...:signs002:

I was blown away today...:smiley respect:

Had my first shave with an injector today. Nice head shave with a PAL adjustable on high. It was extremely comfortable. Not quite as close as my DEs, but very comfortable.
