Who would have thought that a box would be worth more than the razor?

It's a loaner, so I have about a week to decide whether or not to get my own. Based on one shave, I'd love to have one. My only concern is blade cost. I struggle with folliculitis, so I go one-and-done with my DE and SE blades. It's about 5 times more expensive to do that with these...

Question for folks who have used both. Which is more aggressive, the PAL adjustable, or the Schick Type M?

I'm sure there are some injector-experts here that could chime in with what the most efficient injector razor and blade for that might be. :)

In my experience the closest shave you will get with an injector is with the PAL Injecto Matic. Hands down my most aggressive and best over all razor. Standard disclaimer of YMMV of course. :happy088:

Injector aggressiveness. For me it's the early Schick stamped E series before Eversharp stamp give me the closest shave. Beyond that one would be masochistic. Biased having tried a few other injectors but never a PAL.

The PAL is definitely more aggressive - it's not even close.

Unless . . . load a twin blade into the Schick M and That Changes Everything.

Twin blades will not fit in the PAL. They are also expensive and can be difficult to find.

Don't really know what to say about this, the blades stay sharp and shave well for 5 to 10 shaves for a lot of people, if sanitation is an issue disinfecting the razor and blade between use should be doable. Also the Personna / Pella blades are pretty inexpensive comparatively, but I like the Schick blades and the Chinese Schicks , cost more but I get some miles out of them. I'll shut up now....

The adjustable PAL can be mild or wild depends on how you set it, overall my favorite injector razors are not "aggressive " and that is why I like them. The shave is great but the razors are smooth. I always get a decent shave after 2 passes.

I had planned a different shave but the final piece to my full G collection showed up today - the amber handled G6. I've been looking for a nice one at a nice price for about a half year and it finally happened. It needed very little cleaning and I think it has been in the box for decades. The cardboard box still actually opens with the paper hinge fully intact. The blade that was in it had no holes in it and no rust. No real visible signs of wear. I love it. :love055:

I've always been attracted to that amber handle so I didn't wait to shave with it. I loaded it with a Personna blade and man did I get a close shave. Not as smooth as my Es or the PALs or Personnas but, wow, the dolphins are jealous. They're talking about having "Karl skin!"

I thought it might have gone higher. The cased ones are pretty scarce.

I got this razor a while back and while it looks fairly mild mannered it's more aggressive than most. I believe it is an E 2 but not completely sure. It has the flaps on the spring and is in the blue box. Pretty but it has an edge to it. image.jpeg image.jpeg

Any pics of the underside that shows the comb and how the spring is held in place? Looks mighty fine.

You definitely want to check out the Personna blades from Ted Pella. At 24.5 cents per blade (plus shipping) they are a lot less expensive than the Chinese Schicks and for me just as good, although some people don't care much for them. It's very much a YMMV thing.

The ridged comb makes with the flaps on the spring make that an E3. A smooth comb would be an E2 and no flaps with the ridged comb would be an E4 (hard to find.) It is more aggressive than the G but not as aggressive as the E2. This could be a good one to try a modified Feather in it although Schicks are nice in them. :p

I'm going to try that. A while back after using the G I tried it with a Personna blade and it was harsh so I put it in the box and forgot about it. Thanks for your information Karl!

Had my first ever shave with my Gem OCMM. I used the Gem SS blade.
Got a very nice shave with it. DFS with my regular 3 pass shave. Had 2 full days growth. The first pass knocked them down really nicely. I did not have a lot of feedback. On my second pass I was able to hear it slicing those whiskers right off. Third pass the same. I find it kind os strange that I can go ATG on my upper lip with no problem on SE and injectors. DE on the other hand takes some real care.

Any how really loving Injectors and SE shaves I have virtually no irritation and seldom get a weeper.
