The blades in SEs/Injectors are more rigid than a DE blade & don't flex ...A DE doesn't work for me going against the grain as I have cast iron whiskers...My brother gets on with them fine but his whiskers are light...The OCMM is a nice razor...They are pretty quiet in terms of feedback & that's fine as it means you have Dialled it in correctly ...A lot of feedback doesn't always equate to an efficient razor...The PAL Adjustable is one of the most aggressive & efficient shaving machines out there & its as quiet as a Ninja..:kar:

As Karl said...That's a Type E 3 for sure...I have three of them...I have two Canadian Type E 3 s & a USA made one...There is no difference in them & they all shave the same...This is just me talkin...I have more or less stopped using my Type E 3 s as they just don't fit me regardless of which blade combo I have used in them thus far..The Type E 3 has a particularly Deep ridged comb compared to some other Type E injectors and its a lot milder than earlier Type E s...I just don't get on with them...My neck always stings all the Way to Hell & Back regardless of the blade combo...I reckon its that Deep Ridged Comb that's the issue for me ..Its quite a Rough Comb in actual fact...But Hey..That's just me talkin...I hope you get on with it better than me..:)

Hi @twhite didn't mean to hijack your thread. :)
Recently I did the GEM MicroMatic trifecta shave off Open Comb MicroMatic (OCMM) vs (1930) Clog-Pruf (1941) vs Flying Wing / Bullet Tip (1947).
The FW / BT was an ok touch up razor but simply to mild for my beard to give me a close shave. Feels like I'd have to spend all day doing passes in all directions.
The OCMM can give a great shave but demands to much attention for my current comfort level. Also not very forgiving if you don't have perfectly smooth skin (blemish or mole) as it attempts to level everything in it's path.
Enter the Clog Pruf. Not a half a sleep shave razor like a Krona , still demanding some attention but also not an overly demanding razor that takes away from the shave either.
My ideal razor is efficient without being overly harsh. I prefer a more aggressive razor but not a ruffian. The Clog Pruf was that for me, the best of the family neither a face tickler like the Flying Wing / Bullet Tip or a plow like the OCMM.
Your experience may vary. The GEM MicroMatic family might not be the ideal razors for new shavers, requiring different touch and careful thought to direction on different parts of the face.
No against the grain under the nose, due to the unreachable angle posed by the larger head, but frankly it's not required or recommended by either the OCMM or the CP as a BBS is achievable by simply going side to side.
I ended up surprise PIF'ing the other two less liked GEM's to @Marverel after seeing his request for a SE razor trial and subsequently buying another OCMM in the wild due to the condition and price and maybe wanting to tame the little monster.
For those who want the experience I'd say give it a try, the razors are easy to come by and decently priced. The OCMM family was really well made as evident by their age and quality examples that can still be found today. N.B. use proper blades !!

This morning was the first time using the black handled Pal and I'm not convinced its as good as shaver as white handled one. I may have to throw a Chick blade into it for a comparison to the Dutch Dangle I used today.
The razor was noticably mild and not overly efficient, even on the no brainers spots (cheeks). Maybe Ive been spoiled as of late and forgot what a DFS feels like:D

I have one the same as yours with a Grey handle and its as efficient as all the PAL Injectomatics I have used..I have noticed the build quality is not the same in that one and the springs are not as strong....It seems to be easier to run a blade across the stops in these ones as well...This is just me talkin here...I have used NOS Blades in the Injectomatics & I have went back to the Chick blades for that Match made in Heaven..:)

I've got a couple of PAL Injecto-Matics and I like them a lot.

The one on the left is USA made and gold plated, the one on the right is British and chrome plated. It doesn't really show up in the picture, but the collar is bright purple.

Some consider the British version to be slightly more aggressive, but frankly I can't tell any difference.

    They're both great shavers.

    Another shot..:)

I got my Schick HydroMagic in the post today from France...That was quick...Just seems yesterday that I pressed the Button on it..This Injector is in Mint Condition & it came with about 8 NOS Dutch made blades...This hasn't a mark on it & looks as if it was made yesterday...The Chrome HydroMagics are somewhat Rare so I am over the Moon with it...£ 7.00 Posted cant be bad...I think there is a lot of "Old ladies" over in France that don't know what they are selling because I have got a lot of good punts from over there...

Looks like my "Highlander" ("There can be only one") razor....The '55 hydro-matic was the first razor I 'd watch my Pop shave with when I was like 4...so when I think of shaving thats the first razor that pops into my mind......Also years later; when I first started shaving; my Dad gave me his from when I was 4....He had saved it for me....
So you can see I really dig the I2s on many levels....

I was careful not to run the blade across the stops. Some 11 hrs later Im finding my shave is actually feeling pretty good.....maybe I was being hasty in my assessment. Ive loaded a Chick and will report back tomorrow.
