Ahhhh this one is the Ever Ready 1914 "Little Lather Catcher".....This was the last 'Lather Catcher' and was along with the GEM 1912 the safety razors that most of our WWI soldiers carried...

.Joseph Kaufman was the first President of the ASR (American Safety Razor) and he designed the ER 1914....man....ASR had alot of geniuses working with them...But Kaufman slammed one out of the park with the 1914....what an incredible razor...and they sold a ton of them from 1914 through til the 1924 replaced it....Both are incredible "Past from the Past"

Congratulations and wishing you many great shaves with them....

Because I'm a contrary sort, while both those razors were the main safety razors used by American troops in WW1, most soldiers who shaved at that time still used straight razors.

We have the gas mask to thank for making shaving a mandatory part of a soldier's life. ;)

I just had the most wonderful shave this morning with my CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher & Hollow Ground Blade...An Old Gent from the USA once warned about the Dangers of going down the Hollow Ground Blade Rabbit Hole...He told me that I would be soon selling all my other SEs...Well ..I now know what this Old Timer was talkin about...:happy102:...Well with the exception of my Injectors of course..:happy097:

Anybody that's even thinking about going down this path...Get a CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher Now...This Swedish work of Art is just the Dogs Danglies...Its a deceptively Aggressive Razor & offered me an all over BBS Result that I would expect from an Early Schick Type E 2 Injector & no bones about it..The CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher is quite aggressive but ever so smooth & forgiving...My blade was ever so sharp and smooth today...There is not much more to say except the CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher has just taken the Crown from the Gem Crowned Lather Catcher..:happy088:

    Razor – Gem 1912
Blade – Gem Stainless PTFE (5)
Brush – Brothers Bristles with WD HM
    Lather – B&M Seville
Post - Witch Hazel and Fine Platinum

Continuing with the vintage razor focus for December I am revisiting the Gem 1912. Using B&M Seville from a shave stick, I whipped up a very good lather. Seville is a very thirsty soap but adding water slowly as you lather brings out the best in the soap. I went with a 2 pass shave, XTG and ATG followed up with touch ups around my chin and under my nose. I didn't catch the baby and most likely didn't scare him either but I did get a very good shave. More importantly, I was able to at last get a decent shave under my nose. Not perfect but I'm getting there. Today also provides an interesting comparison to Gem 1912 Damaskeene I used last weekend. While very similar, I do find the 1912 Damaskeene noticeably smoother. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum. Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

My grey handled Pal likes a Chick blade and my face does too......:smiley respect:
Third shave with this guy and it was the best so far. Im putting this one in the " feels mild but shaves efficient" catagory.

It was time to shave with the D again today. It had been awhile and it got bumped on Thursday by the arrival of the G6. Hmm, not sure what to make of the shave. It was tugging a bit on the first pass. Actually, it was tugging enough for me to consider changing the blade. But I realized it a NOS Super Chromium with only one shave on it so I continued on. The 2nd and 3rd passes were better but not as smooth as I remembered. The only thing I can figure is the lather on the first pass was a little too dry as it was clogging the head frequently. Don't know if that would do it but it's all I got.

However, by the time I finished I was rewarded with that silky smooth, all around goodness that comes from a good shave. Maybe I just need to use it more often? :pot:

Hello, yes sir, I have shaven with both. Although today was the first time I used the 1924/25. Both razors are very efficient, and give great shaves. The Little Lather Catcher is the only SE I wil dry shave with. In fact it's the only razor I will dry shave with period. I was short on time one day and it was all set up in my rotation, so I used it for a quick dry shave, and I was very satisfied with the results. It's an amazing razor.

The C3 repeating razor was my choice this morning! Amazing smooth shave. I keep being surprised at how easy it is to use. Hopefully the weekend is off to a good start for everyone! image.jpeg

So i think i have the design all finalized. I will start machining tomorrow. I will be machining this over a few weekends.
I think i have figured out how to change the blade exposure just by sliding the comb forward. I have a stop so it will go from .010 down to .003 exposure. This will allow me to hopefully dial it in.

    I will post further updates.

All the ER 1924s were dyno-mite! And I'm with you on "the Little Lather Catcher".....That is one razor of my very favorites; that to me; is perfect in every way....
