Agreed sir....and I did say, "safety razor"....
Shoot, back then not only did most self shavers still use str8s...most homes didn't have running water...It's my thoughts, that that is probably why ER went with the Little Lather Catcher instead of the 1909 shovelhead "the 'New' Ever Ready". Because the shovelhead was too ahead of its time and most folks still shave with a water pitcher, bowl, and mirror, so the Lather Catcher style required less rinsing....

My shave tonight with the razor that never disappoints. The PAL injecto-matic.

I used my PAL again with a new Chick in it tonight. For the soap I used the Trader Joe's stuff. This is a love hate soap. It does nor want to lather. But I find it very nice on my face. It is slick enough for me. But how it makes my face so soft and smooth afterwords is worth the lathering issues. I used my Boar brush to face lather. Boar's are my favorite brushes to use.

On to the shave. I had 2 days growth to mow down. As always this PAL is ever so smooth yet so efficient at removing hair. This is my only razor that I can get by with a DFS after 2 passes. The 3rd pass almost guarantees BBS over 90% of my shaving area. The Adams apple and under jaw are the only areas of issue. Those can be cleaned up with a touchup.

I don't have a mess of razors like some people (Darkbulb):) so my choices are limited at this time. But I find myself wanting to shave with the PAL most of the time. This is definitely my goto razor when I need or just want that awesome shave.

If you can get your special Bunny creation to come close to the PAL IM you will have to quit your existing job to keep up with the demand!

    How about "Le Pus"? :)

(Lepus is latin for bunny lol)

"Bunny" in a number of languages

Korean "Toki" has a certain ring to it :D

I came across this 1945 Advert for Schick Injectors...Thought it was interesting...You can just about read it...Its a somewhat unusual advert as it is Highlighting the fact that during the War Years as we know ...Schick's Razors were only made for the War effort & not available to the public ...What I didn't know was that Schick managed to resupply the public with Injector blades on 1943 and within a few months their sale of blades rocketed back to pre-war levels...:)

This is a 1945 Advert that is Both Confirming a Public Appeal for Schick Injectors during the War years & of course the Company Appealing to the Public to continue using them after the Razors become available again in the months after the War...Speaks volumes about the demand for Schick Injectors in the USA at that time..:p

    Now that is really interesting.
So any Schick razor made in, say, 1944 until the war ended in Sept of 1945 was mostly earmarked for the armed forces.

A dumb question: During the 1940's was Schick the only manufacturer of injector blades that could be used with their razors - or did the 'public' have another blade brand to turn to?

Well..It would appear that the answer would be a "Yes" because Schick were the only Company making injectors & blades at that time...The PAL Injectomatic was the first contender and it never came out until 1949/1950 I believe...After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on December 1941 all Schick Injectors from then on (1942) were made for the Armed Forces until the War ended in 1945... ;)

Today's shave is my 6th shave this month with Gem SE razors. My technique is improving as are the shaves. Going with a traditional 3 pass shave required very little in the way of touch ups to get a near BBS shave. The overall shape of the razor makes the area under my nose and around my lips more difficult. With the practice, I am getting much more comfortable with the razor in those areas. When I do my part, the Gem SE razors deliver a super close and exceptionally long lasting shave.

For Sunday I chose the type A. While not as easy to use as the type C I still had a great shave. Not quite as close as the C but still very good. Have a great day all! image.jpeg

Really interesting bit of history. A true shavapacolypse wasn't enough to put the end to the Schick. Hmm, I wonder what the black market for Schick blades was like in 1942 and if people were hoarding them beforehand.

I took out the NOS Personna Floating Head I acquired some time ago. First shave ever with a NOS razor so I put a NOS Personna Twin blade in it. I have a small puck of vintage Williams hidden away but I decided to save that for another day when I know what I am doing with soaps. Anyhow, the shave was everything you'd expect. This razor is just so forgiving and whacks the whiskers with superb efficiency and comfort. I think it is the one in my den that could challenge the PAL Injecto Matic for being that single razor you take to the proverbial deserted island. :happy036:

I think you may be right about the Personna Twins possibly being better than the Schicks. I wish I had thought about using my other Floating Head that I have loaded with a Schick Twin for the one side to compare to the other. I don't see how you can go wrong with either of them. :happy088:
