    Straights to the Finish Line!

    December 21 - It's MONDAY!

    Razor - W.B. Speed Rabbit
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold water, Witch Hazel, Nivea

Welcome to Monday and the Solstice! And, of course, to day two of straights. After yesterday's difficulty with lather I considered several options and read all the comments I got as a result and made my decision. Staying with the Fat, going to the BoS, my best brush with the Fat (or at least I'm best with it) and adding massive amounts of water to my face just ahead of the lather. AND.....only one side at a time given the slowness of the shave at the moment. This all followed my head shave which, I'm happy to say, was totally routine and non-bloody today.

I was curious how the Rabbit would feel since I stropped it for the first time last night and this morning. Let's see if I totally screwed it up. First stroke on the right was very nice. Boy the sound this thing makes is awesome. Peel that velcro baby. My angle was pretty shallow still.....something about this thing keeps making me want to shallow up, but when I do the sound fades and I know to add more angle. Finished the first pass on the right side and it wasn't bad. Very smooth, no drag, not as effective as it could have been but that's my angle issue. Also, getting up around my goatee at the jawline is a challenge, but it was for the pain stick too. That will take some figuring out. Left side lathered, and a better result on that side. Closer, which is funny since my left hand is basically a useless hunk of meat. I got bolder with the angle, though, and finished the pass with a decent result. Lathered the right side and went again, same for the left and finished with a decent enough shave to call it done. It's maybe a CCS, well it's just that, certainly nothing more. And, I used a DE to finish up around the goatee.

However - no blood, no missing appendages or any other horror stories. I like it! And, I will now join the chorus of those who say straights are more forgiving than pain sticks. At one point on the right I got up on the tip where I did with the pain stick last month. The pain stick sliced me open, the Rabbit did not. Nice not to have to watch blood run down my neck.

Here's to a great start to your week! Mine starts tomorrow.

SHAVE OF THE DAY MENTHOL MONDAY!

    RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH

    POST: ALUM/ REEP POINT SUBMARINER:Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily:

Had a great 3 pass shave today. The blade is still going strong on the 7th shave, and has not shown any sign of dulling or any signs of age, which is a good thing. The PDP whipped up a nice lather with the Plissoft brush, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite brushes. Added some menthol glycerin to the lather today to add some menthol chill. Finished the shave with Submariner, nice clean sweet scent, and a nice dose of menthol as well. Hope everyone had a great shave!

This is a mild razor maybe a little bit aggressive than its alike "ming shi". Its the half price of "ming shi" and almost half finishing quality also but shaves nicely. It gave a great BBS.

Prep: Hot Shower/ Neutregena Men's Acne Wash (hate this stuff just using it up)
    Pre-Shave: Proraso White Pre-Shave Cream
    Shaving Cream: AOS Peppermint
Brush: Manhandled Wood Shop 28mm Finest Badger
    Razor/ Blade: Muhle R41 Hybrid w/ Q Bros Handle/ Personna Platinum
    Astringent: Alum
    Post-Shave Balm: Nivea Sensitive
    Aftershave Splash: Captain's Choice North

Great shave for today. Smooth with no irritation. Finally am back home to enjoy the holidays and am excited to be shaving in my usual space. The AOS cream is decent. A little pricey and not super slick, but overall gives a good shave. The Finest Badger brush from Manhandled Wood Shop is breaking in beautifully and gets better with every use (though I usually like Boars better). Captain's Choice North pairs well with the season, as it smells like a Christmas tree. Have a great day and happy Winter Solstice.

This setup is big boy menthol. Should be chilly! Today will be my first try at a Wilkinson blade. The razor is the PAA DOC head on a Stirling handle. Couple more hours of chores in the sun, looking forward to longer days returning.

    Have a great Monday afternoon!

Shower of the day for Tues.
    Body-wash: Dial 4 Men
Deodorant soap-Dial 4 Men Boise St. Stadium Turf Blue(getting low, but there's more in my box.)
    Shampoo-Suave Heritage for Men(1937).

Pre-shower commentary-Man, did my "baberette" cut me down to size today-almost a Marine job, but not quite. It's what I needed though. Feels good. Thus, a little less Heritage is needed, for a few days anyway.

Brush - Ribeira Porto. Exquisite product from Antiga Barbearia de Bairro. This brand, created and produced in Portugal, was inspired by the old Portuguese Quarters and a lifestyle that still (stubbornly) persists, defying the progress by reinventing itself. Like the Ribeira Quarter in Porto, or the Príncipe Real Quarter in Lisbon, that inspired the two new collections of this brand.

The old Barber Shops, where the shaving is still made with a sharp razor, and serve as a meeting point to a hip crowd, are back in style.

“Antiga Barbearia de Bairro” translates to “Old Neighborhood Barber Shop”, and this is the starting point for this new concept.

    (From http://www.theportugalonlineshop.co...rbearia-de-bairro-shaving-brush-ribeira-porto).

    Razor - Gillette Slim Adjustable
    Blade - Feather
Soap - MWF - This soap continues to be my favorite all-time soap. I have used many soaps over the past few years (not as many as some TSD members) and the MWF leads the way in all catagories - lather, comfort, post shave feeling.
    Scuttle - Yoresh (Israel)
    AS - Pinaud Clubman

    Pinaud Clubman AS

The HM badger knot was a gift from Mark, @Boojum1. The Saponificio Varesino Dolomiti Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #38 High Mountain badger brush. Two passes with my Micromatic OC Razor and a GEM Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I've had so many really great shaves lately that I wanted to shave with the Mighty PAL Injecto Matic to re-establish the benchmark of shaving perfection. OUCH! What the...?? The first two passes were fine, albiet a little harsher than usual but the third pass left me with a half dozen weepers. Was this the work of a razor scorned? :scared003: Nah, just the failure on my part to remove the Feather blade after my experiment some weeks ago. I'm replacing it now with a Schick of some sort to avoid making that mistake again.

    T&H Ultimate Comfort PSO
    T&H Wellington Super Badger
    Bio Palmyra Shaving Cream

    Modified Feather Professional Blade (2)
