It's funny you ask, he was here last night and hadn't shaved in a couple of days and I asked him if he was going to shave tonight? He said yes, so I wanted to know what razor he was going to use to mow down his thick stubble. He has a Gillette Super Adjustable 109 aka Black Beauty, RazoRock Jaws, he loves that razor, a couple of injectors, Gillette Tech and maybe another one or two Maggard razors. A Plisson, a couple Omega boars, soap? I'm not sure what he has, when he smells one he likes I'll usually give it to him. He does like RazoRock soaps. Blades, he loves GSB or anything I give him. Aftershave's, I give him dollar store stuff He said the Black Beauty on 8 and the Plisson and I didn't ask about the soap. He has the type of beard growth where he shaves at 5 am and if he was going out to dinner at 6 pm he needs to shave again. What's really special about the Gillette Super Adjustable is it was his Great Grandfathers who he's named after. I got it from my wife's GrandMother a year ago? With the idea of giving it to Vince. It means a lot to him. Someday he'll pass it down to his son name Vincent aka Bincent Thank you for asking.
Ok, I'm in. I've been listening to some Andy Stanley podcasts lately. The one that came up in my list today was from his Balanced series. The topic was 1 Timothy 6:6-10. Message received. After Christmas I'll use my gift money to stock up on anything I think I need.
I think we should standardize a signature tag for those of us that are participating. Some of the tags I've seen so far are below. I say we all go with the same one. But which? NB16 NB '16 No Buy 2016
I kind of like that everyone is sort of just putting their own mark on their page. It kind of fits with the fact that there are no rules, and everybody is just sort of doing their own thing their own way, for their own reasons.
It's a good point. My OCD is objecting heavily, but that's probably a good thing. Can't let it get the upper hand.
Think of it like some secret society, one that has so much mystique it has no name; no signature, just the occasional symbol or phrase left behind by people so cool that others can only envy them.
hey if any of you guys want to send me some of your overstock stuff so you feel better about buying and feeding your RAD I would be happy to help you out. just doing my part for my fellow shavers, no really, no thanks required, its all about you, just you....
Absolutely! And if you just PM me your bank account routing number I will deposit all of the money I wont be spending on shaving. I will also need DOB and SS numbers for account verification. Merry Christmas!
brother....... does that pickle jar avatar have like body parts in it? cause if it does i am kind of thing i don't really want you to know were i live.
Some personal musings on No Buy 2016. I am looking forward to culling my soap/cream herd...getting it down to a reasonable level...and getting my soap acquisition disorder under control. As some of you know I tried -- unsuccessfully I might add -- to whittle my soaps down to a "Top Ten High Performance Soaps" ...yes...it was good for a laugh. I gave up when I hit 17 and had ordered three more. Kind of pitiful actually. Maybe with a No Buy 2016 I can sort through my 20+ soaps and creams and really find the ones that are most meaningful to me and maybe, just maybe, I can find my "Magic Ten". Well...its worth a try. So I have placed my last order (a tub of Proraso Red and the preshave cream)...and I sit patiently as I look forward to January 1. This is what it must be like when someone takes their last drink or their last cigarette? A sense of strong resolve but with just a hint of panic. I think what I will miss most is the joy of checking the postal tracking website and going to the mailbox:mail:. And then opening the package and trying the soap for the first time. For all those who are brave enough to contemplate the No Buy 2016, I tip my top hat to you. Best of luck gentlemen...we are all in this together. United we stand...and one by one we will fall.
Ironically, in the past year and a half that I've been shaving I've only purchased a few soaps. VDH Select was my first, followed by a 4 pack of Conk, and then a puck of Williams. Early this year my dermatologist asked me to use Aveeno Gel for a while, so I bought 4 cans of that. I've never purchased a real cream, and I haven't purchased a soap since August of 2014. But between gifts, passarounds, evaluation pucks, and PIF wins, my stock has still grown to 16 soaps (about half of those are samples) and 3 creams.
your going to have to find someone to do some sharing with so you can still go to the mail box. its not buying, right?
