Found a carded Fusion Proglide from 2010 (Proglide intro year) at Goodwill for $4. I woud have passed but remembered the mint intro year Sensor I found at a yard sale that I managed to sell on the bay.
December’s Haul so far: Dirigo Blue Mustache Wax from @swarden43 New Monogramed Aluminum Brush handle (120g) from cncbrushs 28mmUbersoft II 4th Gen Synthetics from EnvyShave 1946-47 Aristocrat (Some plate loss, missing end cap) Double Ring Handle (Is that the right term?) New Short OC base plate, and Old Short OC base plate (I have a post in WTB looking for top plates for these.) Joseph Smith & Sons Celebrated Razor 3415 6/8 near wedge with barber’s notch. Some hone wear, and the horn scales are shot. F.W. Westpfal New York ACME razor. Appears to be German made, ¾ hollow, square tip, 13/16. Seller said hard rubber scales, they are some kind of plastic. Have a W carved into them I am going to try and remove. Case Brothers Little Valley N.Y. Tested XX 1902-1918. Barber’s notch, 6/8th, very little hone wear. Horn scales are cracked. This one is going out to @gssixgun for some clean up. I still have two Genco straights and a minty Case Brothers razor box inbound. I need to slow down for a bit.
That's most likely a German brush from the 50ies: LIWA Werke Liersch & Wagner from Nürnberg. They don't exist any more, they had some subsidiaries like "Beck Pinselfabrik Ansbach" and "Borsten- und Tierhaar-Zurichterei Adelsdorf". Just a wild guess here, but "Widax" might be pronounced a bit like the german "Dachs", which is badger in english... Very cool brush btw. Never seen anything like that before.
Vintage London House butterscotch brush (2nd from left) arrived today. Pictured with it new shelf mates for size comparison. It's a bit smaller than my smallest Simpson travel brush (Case), putting it somewhere in Wee Scott territory.
Have wondered about a scuttle but they've always been way too expensive for me to experiment with. Until today. Unless it actually is a tea strainer. Bottom reads Empress, Ironstone, Staffordshire, England, if that means anything to anyone.
Will do! Thank you for your explanation! How on earth did you know that? I totally forgot about "Dachs" (I should have remembered that!) Beautiful scuttle, Gorgo! Enjoy!
Received two more New Forest brushes from the UK and I love the look of these. The 'Chunky' is of a similar design that I have but much more...well..chunky. Here are the two new arrivals: ..joining the others:
Okay okay...impressive line up....there I said it! I really like the look of the knot on the far right one....more details on that one please...
Thanks. I'm actually going through them all now one by one and trying to nail down the model numbers and knots. Even reached out to Peter himself to see if he could help. I'll post an update when I got it all sorted out Going left to right, here are my best guesses at this time (I lost my original notes...): 1: 2o41? 2042? Best badger? 2: 2213? Silvertip? 3: 2204? Super badger? 4: "Tubby 2"? Two-band? Not sure about number code 5: "Chunky" Two-band? Not sure about number code 6 2011, 3-band? 7: 2001, Two-band
Peter closed up shop earlier this year so, sadly, the only way to get them now is from current owners that are selling them.
