Tonight was the "Clash of the Titans 2", "the Wrath of PAL"

Actually, I'm understanding my E2 alot better these days, and I can see where it does hold it's own....Tonight I shaved the left side with the Schick and right with the PAL...

First pass was about equal....both razors really remove alot of whiskers on the first pass...Not all together about whisker Reduction with these guys...}8^)) Ohhh, and another impression that stands out, is that the PAL side took half as long...This is maybe the fastest easiest shaver ever....It's like playing around and the Schick is like paying close attention and keeping 'Spike' on a short leash as he'll bite if you break eye-contact....

Second pass, Schick cleaned my left cheek BBS with the XTG pass...PAL was sooo much fun I ran the whole right side XTG and my neck, chin...and went ahead and did the left jaw-line, chin, and throat XTG too...It was kind of a momentum thing....just couldn't stop...

In fact, not that the schick wasn't hanging in there...it was....But the speed, ease and fun thing was so much in the PAL's corner I just said "Screw it" and finished the shave with the PAL....lol...

I did a quick ATG pass doing long strokes from the bottom of my throat up the top of my whisker line... No other razor has ever inspired me to try that...It's not nessesary, and I wouldn't even recommend it, but it was fun....

So end result....I dunno....Schick is about as close to a str8 as maybe the injector world has to offer...I mean you really feel the blade's edge on your skin, like a shavette with a perpendicular handle..and maybe the PAL, while it doesn't feel like a Str8, gets similar results as the E2 but the PAL Injecto-matic just might be the most fun, easiest razor I've ever seen...It kind of reminds me of the ER 1914 in that regard...a real blast from the past....

PS....I'm thinking this PAL might just be my Desert Island razor....

Never used those ones but they are a bit old perhaps ...They were made in the 1950s I think...Some of those older blades were no where near up to standard of later ones including the Eversharp blades from that era...

Well..Here is the thing...That Dutch made Hydro is also Superior to a USA made model...I have been told about the Dutch models being better made although I haven't tried one before...It does make sense of course...The Dutch blades are far superior to USA made ones...I have just found out that the Dutch made Injectors are as well...That Dutch made Injector/blade combo there is as darned efficient as a PAL Injectomatic....Couldn't believe it...You would need both the Dutch made blades and Dutch made Injector though to get these results as one without the other would change the plot..

I had an outing with my Comfort Lather Cather this Morning & Heljestrand Hollow Ground Blade..The Comfort Lather Catcher is quite an Aggressive SE & the shaving angle was a wee bit harder to get a grip with but this razor is the epitome of flat against the face..My blade was very sharp today & this combo offered me an almost all over BBS result with a DFS in places...

The secret to stropping is all about the correct pressure...Too much pressure will blunt the blade & not enough will not give a sharp edge...That's just a learning curve through trial and error...I have been spoiled with the C. V. Heljestrand on my previous shave..The C. V. Heljestrand is in a class of its own...It is the Rolls Royce of Lather Catchers...

I would go as far as suggesting that the C. V. Heljestrand was and is the Absolute Pinnacle of this Shaving System...This thing is Aircraft Engineering standard and whilst the Comfort is a Lovely Shaver it isn't a precision made Shaving Instrument like the The C. V. Heljestrand ....That said the Comfort is a lovely shaver & during its day must have been one of the most comfortable shavers around as its name suggests...I enjoyed my shave this morning...Good Karma...

Mine looks exactly like yours BUT with ridges along the comb. I guess I'm an E3 then.

Looking forward to giving it a try in the near future. Still stuck on my Pal Adjustable at the moment, but it won't be long

That's correct...The ridged comb was introduced with the Type E 3 ...

I'll be shaving with them in the Pal Adjustable shortly and will let you know what happens. I popped a blade in last night out of pure curiosity assuming it would be very sharp and was surprised at how easily it wiped away my arm hairs.

Do you think these are carbon steel Billy? If so, do you eject the blade after each use?

I am not 100 % on that one...That's said those particular blades came out when the PAL Injectors were introduced around 1950...I know for a fact that the PAL injector blades that came out at that time were stainless because I have some...They were both made by the American Safety Razor Company so I can only assume that they are the one & same blade & therefore stainless..

Today was the third day with the MMOC. Two more shaves and I will change over to the MMCP and finish 2015 with it.

I took the PAL for a test drive today. Loaded a Chick blade got some good lather going and went to work. This razor shaves similar to my G1, very smooth, you can use a little pressure without issue and today it gave me a smooth close 2 pass shave. The biggest difference to me was it is quieter than the G. When I compared the two blade exposure and gap were about the same. It felt good in my hand and was easy to move around. Overall a great little razor!

I got some of these Schick super chromium blades today. Wondering what to expect. Has anyone else used them?

I have some. I haven't found the best match for them yet. I made the mistake of putting one in my PAL Injecto Matic thinking it would be an upgrade over the regular Schicks. Don't do it. Too harsh in that razor. I'm going to try it in a G or maybe the PAL Adjustable or maybe my C3? I put one into a D and it wasn't bad. Now that I think of it, I think I'll try one in an E first.

I have some of those and I reckon they are a Cut above the Schick Plats...The ones you have there were later blades that the Plats and should be very sharp but quite forgiving...That said they do need a lighter touch...As Karl said they would probably be "Too much Blade" in a PAL Injector...They are really nice in a G Type & later Schick Injectors...I find that they perform equally as well in a Type E 2..
