Sadly, I've probably gained 4lbs today now I'm watching the Warriors vs Cavaliers game while the ladies chitchat. Enjoying a little boy I'm gonna sleep really good tonight.

I enjoyed a nice shave this morning, as usual with this month's set up. My Bride and I celebrated Christmas at home, and then we joined our family for more celebration. Unlike Kerry, I didn't gain 4 pounds. I probably gained 6 lbs. Oh well, now I don't have to work as hard to stretch my cheeks for a good shave.

Congrats Chris! What a great gift from your dad! Did he actually use this razor? Is that a pasted paddle strop?

 

Thanks Charlie. He may have conspired with Mrs Samurai, and one of them ordered from WD. No one is really talking about who exactly did what. It's just a simple refurbished 5/8, and perfect for learning alongside the Aust from @Kiethmax. As per strop, two sides are leather, others are pasted balsa red/green. I am posting it here so, that I am the record as having it before 2016 per my commitment to NB16.

 

OK, Chris, so your dad and your Bride conspired to get you a very nice gift. It will make it even more fun to have and use. I look forward to following you on your straight razor journey!

I don't think gifts should count toward NB16, BTW. Giving is a good thing!

 

I didn't mean to confuse, I like it a lot and can't wait! Gifts don't count in my version of NB16. I also serve notice that buying a Barber strop from Adam wouldn't break my NB pledge, as I would be buying something I do not own and might need to try. If SR doesn't work out for me, some random member who is new to SR will get a complete double SR starter kit in the spring of 2016.

It is back to the Razorock P160 today and it is paired with my Dovo Master's 6/8 stainless straight. The Thater bulb whipped up lots of lather, it does load quickly. Everything felt right with the shave and I did all four passes. I thought I had nailed this shave but the alum said there was some irritation but I did just barely make BBS.

Back to the vintage Gem SE razors for the weekend. The Shavemac D01 whipped up a great lather with the Reef Point Dragon's Blood soap. This is my first time using this soap. The lather was slick with great post shave feeling. Using the Gem Razors each weekend, has started to pay dividends. A 3 pass shave, XTG, ATG & ATG, with touch ups provided a BBS shave everywhere except between my nose and lips. I continue to improve in this area and I am sure that with practice results will improve. I finished off with a splash of F&C Shambala. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

 

Whew! I'm still tuckered out from yesterday. Fortunately, I had enough energy for a BBS shave.
