December 26 Z3 Gillette Super Speed Feather (3) Semogue 830 XPEC Unscented Two passes Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and CC Bay Rum I enjoyed a relaxing two-pass shave this morning, and I've had fun using the Super Speed this month. I'm putting my nicely broken in Semogue 830 away for awhile, replacing it with a Shavemac two-band silvertip brush for the next few shaves. Today was my first outing with XPEC. It's a good cream, but I'll need some time to dial it in. One more week, and we'll be in the January focus! I hope everyone had a fun Saturday! Is there any other kind?
Charlie, that's my only complaint about the 830 is it doesn't hold enough lather, I'm not against going back to the puck I do it every shave, I just wished it would hold more. It's definitely a great brush.
Dec 27 Shave 2.18 Next up for the cream/croap focus is Razorock Mudder Focker. I have had success in the past so directly to the SR test. It took me a little longer than normal to make the lather but I ended up with a good slick lather. The first three passes felt smooth and allot of beard reduction. One small weeper on the chin during the 3rd pass. I did the 4 passes and then extra with the grain smoothing pass on the neck. Once again I thought I nailed it but the alum test resulted in some stinging, but the shave is BBS. Straights to the Finish Line! December 26 Razor - W.B. Speed Rabbit Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Soap - Tabac Post - Cold water, Alum, Nivea Two days of practice with the Rabbit left before using the Soviet. Another evening shave so I wasn't rushed and I'm happy to report I survived with only a minor nick along the goatee line. That area is the trickiest for me to get an angle on as it's difficult to get close on a WTG and the XTG still trips me up a bit. But, after two passes I'm at a decent CCS and I'm calling that good for now. The WW brush and Tabac was excellent and the alum was a bit noisy tonight but I was using a bit more angle than I have trying to get a bit closer. All in all not bad. One more day to get ready for the trial by Soviet steel on Monday. Happy Saturday! Hope you are getting less rain than we are. Downpours for over 12 hours straight.
I'm starting straights January. I've been wanting to for quite awhile and I think this will finally be the month it happens. I'll keep the DE for backups and emergency quick shaves but I'll be using straights at least a month. Thinking of only shaving every other day.
Me, too, though I will shave daily if ll goes to plan. SR Jan-Mar will be my ninety shaves to "get it or quit it."
