Merry Christmas to all of you at the Shave Den. Christmas morning shave 4:00 am Mountain time Not my prettiest but as good of a shaver as I own. Progress 7/8 solingen for the Italian market MDC lavender with a small dab of Castle Forbes lavender. Best ubelather on the planet PantaRei 30mm silvertip, my best brush. Just a freakn monster but soft too. Floid blue- my all time favorite AS... Todays shave was perfecto —in Nampa, Idaho.
I would restore it because I like shiny and that's a good one. I don't own a WB yet but one like that is what I am looking for
The Mike Doherty Iwasaki Tamahagane Shortie This makes my third Tamahagane steel straight razor from Japan. There is a different feel and sound from this steel. Very hard steel.
ESE 15/16 French Point ( fresh off the 20K Gukumyo & and an amazing edge) I am really liking the 20K Razorock Mudder Focker with Castle Forbes crème - an incredible ubelather Brushcraft handle with FS 24mm silvertip Floid Black Label as good as it gets today
I usually post in the 30 Day thread but it seems it's OK to post in both. I usually don't take a picture but it is Sunday and I had allot of time so here goes: Razorock Mudder Focker Omega boar knot in custom handle Dove Bismark 2 Dry Gulch strop Lucky Tiger AS L'Occitane Cade ASB Guerlain Vetiver
Cape japanese 13/16 finished on Nakayama Maruichi Maruka with slurry, then water. This was prev honed up to Gukumyo 20k and the edge improved. Not neccesarily sharper but much smoother and keener Baume.Be crème - one of the best cremes out there ( thx again to Lynn S. Abrams & Ben Lazar for the suggestions) Crown King switchback # 2 knot - after learning how to load this synthetic I really am enjoying it. It is very water sensitive Floid Vigoroso... I would settle for todays shave anyday. Just an awesome shave. Today I caught the elusive edge and BBS shave we are all chasing.
Pasted and regular strop before each pass, but I got a good shave from my Soviet razor. Some irritation, but it worked.
This is my experience as well. Prior to the SG20K, my finisher was a lovely, huge Nakayama Karasu. They both put indistinguishably sharp edges on a blade, but the natural edge was always noticeably smoother. The deal-making difference being finishing with the Nakayama took around 10 minutes, where as finishing on the SG20K takes about 30 seconds. I've discovered that after I come off of the SG20K, I take about 10 laps on a 0.25 micron CrOx sprayed linen strop and it smooths the edge nicely. Give it a shot, works a charm. Lol, nailed it! I only have but one child, and she's different alright...
