That is a wonderfully valid set of rules. We are all our own gurus here. It's not a race, but a path to be walked together.
I reckon one of the things I will not miss is checking the tracking numbers and awaiting the mail postings. Come on, admit it. Surely I am not the only one here who does this??????
I agree. It gets kind of nerve wracking repeatedly checking the tracking numbers. Especially when the item isn't in the mailbox, and it is supposed to be. That happens a lot here.
Actually, the best thing for me in the NB '16 is that I won't hear my wife saying "what's this PayPal charge for" and then having to explain it. I've checked my inventory, stocked up on some additional soaps and blades. It looks like I can do a No Buy decade. 24 razors, 900 blades and and 17 soap pucks, so I'm in! Unless I find that elusive toggle at the flea market! Me, do I have a problem? Nah!
Good afternoon folks, I have done a brief inventory of my consumables, and it seems I'll only need some blades (DE) and some AS Balm/Splash, and maybe some cologne. Hopefully, I'll be able to order most, if not all of what I need before January 01 2016. I'm going to try to not buy any shave related products in 2016. Although, one never knows what may come up. So many of my friends depend on me for blades, if I get a run on them I may need more. Who knows though. I'm pretty happy I've just committed to this endeavor. It's as if a new chapter in my Journey through the Traditional Shaving Kingdome is about to open. I know it won't be a cake walk, but I plan to make a year without any shaving related purchases. Famous last words huh! Good luck to all my fellow sabbatticants.
I placed an order for 200 Israeli Personna Platinum Chrome DE blades yesterday, so I covered that base anyway! Now I have to decid what colognes and after shaves I need. I'm low on all that stuff.
I think I'll still need a few soaps to get me through the year, so I'm doin a little post Christmas shopping today.
I've got a few things in the pipeline, and may even buy one or two soaps next week, but I've begun unsubscribing from vendors email lists to reduce temptation.
Hello Number Six, I've been contemplating deleting my ebay app as well. I've already deleted my etsy app. I should do as your doing and unsubscribe from my vendors news letters too. Thanks for the idea! And good luck to you sir.
Hello folks, with only 3 or 4 days until the start of the New Year, I'm steadily preparing for the coming yearlong sabbatical. Today I got a gift card/voucher for Amazon from one of my brothers, so I stocked up on some cheap cologne. I scored some e Barbershop Patchouli scent cologne. I think a little throw back to the sixties and seventies may be in order this coming year! So I think I should be pretty well stocked up, what with the cologne and the 200 Personna Platinum Chrome blades I ordered the other day. What preparations have you guys made so far? Or was everyone pretty much already ready? Well Good Luck to everybody. I hope we all succeed. Have a great evening everyone!
I have not really made any special preparations for NB 2016. I have more than enough soap to make it through the year. I will replenish my Feather DE and Feather Artist Club blades if required.
I forgot to mention in my previous post that I also scored some vintage English Leather as/cologne splashes. These are for certain nostalgic moments. Mainly for when I'm using my father's old Black Tip. I scored some vintage Wilkinson Sword blades to go with it all too. Wilki's were dads favorite blade. English Leather was his favorite AS and cologne. I've been thinking about him quite a bit, so I wanted to honor his memory with these products along with his old razor. I know it may sound kind of corny, but I don't care. He deserves to be remembered by me, and honored by me. May God rest his soul.
I accumulated so many different razors, soaps, creams, aftershaves, brushes, etc in the first couple of years I haven't bought anything new for a year and a half, and plan to continue that thru 2016. Of course, if I find something particulary good at a flea market or antique store, rules are meant to be broken.
