1. Wait what? Can it be? Can two shavers have the same opinion about something shaving related? ;)

Yeah, I don't think I'll use the same blade for shave #5. I'll replace it with a new blade and be pretty happy with that it gave me four excellent shaves.

  3. I am so intrigued by this beautiful razor. Can you help me understand something? Please. You write about removing the blade, do you load and remove the blade from the top? I believe it has a V shape head, and the blade slides inside the V? Am I close?
  4. There's a slot in the back of the head where you insert the blade. It's very neat and the blade locks in place with a nice 'click'.
When extracting the blade you pull it out from the same slot. Gently lift it up a bit and pull it straight out.
It took me 2-3 times but now the process is second nature.
  5. So, I started with a new blade today, my second overall. The shave quality was noticeably improved over the the first blade at the 3 shave mark. The shave was much closer and "easier". I usually take the blade out of the razor after each shave, but I left it in today. I'm going to evaluate after shave #2. I may buy blades in bulk from Connaught and just go 2 shaves per blade. Life's too short for a crappy shave or some sort like that...

I love SE razors and I'm really enjoying this one.

  6. This is a pretty interesting experiment about using a de-spined GEM SE blade in the OneBlade.
So far the result are apparently positive.
I don't know if I'll try it out myself as I was easily able to get 4-5 very, very good shaves out of the Feather blade but it might be of interest to current or potential owners.

  7. LOL! Brian beats the Feather blade edges trying to load it into the razor. I don't feel so bad now.

  8. I'd say it's a 'try at your own risk' experiment but I admire anyone who have the willingness to try out new things and see what does and what doesn't work :)

  9. Yep. I've shimmed a razor or two in my day;)
The Gem blades have a big following. If I had 500 of them sitting around, I might try it too. It'd be my luck, though, I'd load a Gem blade in the razor and it'd never work again. HA!
