  5. SOTD for 12/28
Hello everyone! I've been busy with visiting family so haven't been able to post my SOTD recently. I got in an order from Italian barber and Maggard Razors with tons of new stuff to try out. Anyway, here is my shave for the 28th.
    Prep: Hot shower
    Pre-Shave: Proraso White Pre-Shave Cream
    Soap: RazoRock Son of Zeus
    Razor/ Blade: Merkur 1906/ Voskhod
    Brush: Jack Black (Muhle) Synthetic
    Astringent: Alum
    Post-Shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm
Aftershave Splash: RazoRock Son of Zeus

Overall it was a fantastic shave. First time using a RazoRock soap and I don't think I loaded up quite enough. However, still provided great cushion and glide and made my skin feel great. Out of the tub, I didn't love the Son of Zeus scent, however, once I used it and got it opened up it really grew on me. Smelled like citrus/ oakmoss and would be a great summer scent. Scent strength isn't too strong, but definitely still present. The Voskhod blades in the Merkur 1906 might be my new Daily, as it is incredible smooth. Overall it was a great shave. The aftershave splash worked great too!

  6. My final shave for 2015!

    Thursday morning:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Derby day 4
OSP Grapefruit Menthol SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Gold Bond Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Folsom & Company Shambala AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

This OSP fellow really is a soap genius - his Grapefruit Menthol has such an awesome scent - to me it's more citrusy than grapefruit and the menthol jumps on you right away when you sniff it from the container. Its lather is a joy to whip up and it's got a terrific freeze to it - easily to the same level as the Stirling MITA. Its post-shave care is also wonderful. The Gold Bond is one of the finest balms I've ever used, and the Shambala aftershave is not only very cooling, I love the scent! ;) :D

  7. SOTD 12/29/15:
Sorry to clog up the feed, but posting my shaves from the past couple days that I couldn't post earlier. Here is mine from last night.
Prep: Hot Shower/ Nivea Moisturizing Original Face Wash
    Pre-Shave: Proraso White Pre-Shave Cream
    Soap: Soap Commander Connection
Razor/ Blade: 1960 Gillette Flairtip Superspeed/ Personna Lab Blue (1)
    Brush: Omega Hog Hair
    Astringent: Alum
    Post-Shave Balm: Soap Commander Integrity
    Aftershave Splash: Fine Platinum

Great shave today! The Flairtip combined with a Personna Lab Blue is such a smooth combination. Gets the hair off, but nothing (IMO) is smoother. Not a huge fan of this Soap Commander scent. I usually love their scents, but this one makes me smell like a granola bar... I don't use this Omega brush often, and was reminded why as soon as I used it--it is VERY scratchy on your skin. It doesn't feel nearly as soft as a boar, let alone badger or synthetic. Soap Commander Integrity Balm worked great and had no scent. Fine Platinum is already becoming one of my favorite aftershaves, very light citrusy scent. Overall good shave. Hope you all are surviving the winters where you live. As for me, I'll be on the beach in sunny San Diego!

  8. Michael, it looks like you got a BBS today. Enjoy your beautiful weather.
  9. "Wisdom" from the past month...

Pre: Noxema in the shower; homemade PS oil
    Razor: Merkur HD
    Blade: Voskhod
    Brush: Stirling 22mm synth
    Soap: Soap Commander "Wisdom"
Post: cold water towel; Nivea Sensitive

Employing some of the technique "wisdom" I've learned on TSD this month, found myself with a solid DFS for a chilly Wednesday in DC.

The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #39 Synthetic brush. Two passes with my Micromatic Clog-Pruf Razor and a GEM Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Florida Water after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  12. December 30

Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed (Z3)
    Feather (1)
Rudy Vey Custom Shavemac two-band silvertip *
    Arko
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine L'Orange

I had an enjoyable workday shave this morning, and the Arko provided a fantastic lather. The Shavemac brush got the day off while the caulk holding the knot in the handle cures. The knot popped out a couple of days ago while I was cleaning the brush. The Kent BK4 silvertip badger stood in the gap this morning. The Shavemac goes back in the game tomorrow.

I hope everyone has safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve. My Bride and I plan to spend a quiet evening with some dear friends.

  20. I'll see your Canadiens down here in MA on New Year's for the Winter Classic...actually I won't BE there(sorry), which I'd prefer so I wouldn't have to listen to the TV announcers do their comedy routines which are interrupted by a hockey game in progress. Go Canadiens!
