Last focus shave of the month and the last shave of the year. I wanted an epic shave so today was my beloved 2011 Mühle R41 loaded with a Super Iridium blade. I wanted to compare the AdP with Razorock XXX so the XXX is up today. I like the AdP (original) better but the XXX is a better lather. Not sure if I would but this in the top tier or not, I do prefer the lather from Mudder Focker. That said the XXX does smell good.

Four passes with the R41 and no blood and very smooth. The alum gave just the slightest tickle so I fell just sort of epic shave. Long lasting BBS. This is my reference razor/blade combo and it is the goal I am trying to reach with straights.

  3. Tom, if you're looking for a vintage Gillette, the New LC is a fantastic choice. It is my favorite and best performing DE razor. Bill has a beautiful example.

  4. I had exactly the same thoughts on your picture. It just looks like something out of the 40's or 50's to me. I really like it.

  7. Tom, congratulations on completing your first 30-day focus! You have made great progress in a short amount of time. It will be interesting to follow your focus with the 1924.

  8. Adam, that's a fantastic haul. I'm interested in your reviews of all those aftershaves, as I'm unfamiliar with all of them. What is the story on those straight razors?

  10. I am looking for some vintage. It's very hard making the choice Im certain I want some vintage Gillette's But because I want all of them I'm struggling to buy one I think I will wait a month for my birthday and get a few at once thanks for the advice

  11. I have tried two of the aftershave. They are cheap, and not super moisturizing, but they smell pretty good. The Lustray were described to me as a cheap aftershave formula with very little staying power. They were intended for barbers to use to make someone feel good when they left the shop, then wear off quickly. I am looking forward to using them all.

These razors were made by an American company that was later purchased by W.R. Case and Sons. Both sets of scales are celluloid. The multi colored one is a very small blade, with a lot of tarnish. The Art Deco green scales are cool, and the razor seems to be in good shape. I plan on cleaning them up and using them next year.

  12. New Year’s Eve Shave

King Cobra with Triad Aristocrat Ti
    Feather Pro Super #7
    Druida Barberpole Manchurian
    Acqua Di Parma
Alum, Witch Hazel +Menthol, Whipped Shea Butter
    Chilled Proraso Aftershave +Menthol
    BB 1818

Outstanding super close BBS shave today. This my last shave of 2015 and the last shave for this Feather Pro Super blade. Loaded in the Cobra it gave me 7 of the closest shaves I've had this month. All the hype about ADP proved correct. This Italian soap is a high performer with an outstanding scent. Finished the shave year with some very cold Proraso Aftershave.
Have a good New Year's Eve everyone.

  13. Shave 6 f the month? Maybe, allegedly, possibly, who knows at this point.

5 days growth and a de want going to cut it for a quick one pass shave before a movie. Grabbed my freshly honed new straight. Going to see if my honing skills have improved.

One pass with the straight and this is a decent shaver. Probably needs a little more time on the finishing stone but for one pass to knock down the hairs it did well.

  14. Introducing Neal's January focus razor...

  15. It would be epic if he used his non-dominant hand in a darkened room with a strobe light.
  16. I have not. I have one more shave with the executive tomorrow and will decide then whether to continue with it or what razor(s) to move on to for January.
  17. That is only a challenge if he uses a tumbling turkey or flying foul (not fowl) or whatever it was called as the blade. Otherwise it looks better than a certain Russian made instrument that shall not be named. :happy102:
  18. Alright, who's been spying? That was hidden away and guarded by two of my best cartel goons. Heads are gonna roll...and not mine with any luck!
  19. I really like the way you think. Strobe light. Dark room. Left handed. Intriguing.
  20. 3 passes with the straight. No good internet at my place right now. I'll walk to the wifi hotspot below my house and post more tomorrow. 2 weepers clubman was quiet. Mystic Waters Lime is amazing soap. Pictures are great yeaaa!!!
