Same pic because I repeated the exact same shave to test the soap. No idea what it is, but it's working out ok. Busy day, tired but happy. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado!

    Have a wonderful NYE!

    Gillette NDC Tech
New Bestshave #6 horse hair brush
    Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge razor
    Tims soap Old School Lime
    (Thanks to Will from HTGM)
    PAA Alum block
    Pinaud Clubman AS lotion
Bliss grapefruit & aloe moisture cream
Shave bowl - gift from client

Now that I know what kind of hair the brush is it explains the weird funk. It is real nice though like a stiff badger. And it will only get better baby. ;)
The old Scholls lime lathered wonderfully.
This was also the first time using this razor. Heavier than my other Tech with an aluminum handle.
The blade is where I was hesitant. I have used these twice before. Both times it bit me, and left my face irritated. My neck on fire. This time was much better no nicks or cuts and not much burn on my neck. I did have to use my heavy duty grapefruit & aloe cream though.

The save as a very very DFS. I know most of the improvement was due to my ever improving technique. And a mild yet heavy razor with a sharp blade. Not as sharp as a Feather or Kai, in my opinion. But sharper than the popular Astra , again in my opinion.

All in all, I will be using this combo again in my rotation.

    Shave of the Day

    Red Tip Testing

Prep: warm shower, Stirling Eucalyptus face soap, hot towel
    Razor: Gillette Red Tip
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Platinum (1)
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Badger
    Lather: RazoRock For Chicago
Shave: 3 passes; WTG, ATG + Touch up
Post: Alum, Thayer's Rose WH, L'Occitane Cade balm

So I had a initial 1 pass shave last night with the Red Tip, with a 2 shave old Feather, and the ATG pass was rough. I tried again tonight, my face was feeling good enough for a shave. I loaded a usually good blade for me, the 7O'Clock Super Platinum, and was also trying a new soap tonight, the RR For Chicago. Thoughts on the soap, you have to REALLY load it, and use very little water, otherwise the lather is very thin. It smells great though, and worked fine for this shave. The Red Tip, what a GREAT razor. I can tell it's aggressive, but somehow the way its made its a very "comfortable" aggressive, like it'll sneak up on you. One of the most comfortable razors I've ever shaved with. The blade, not a good combo, as soon as I started the ATG pass, I could tell it wasn't the right blade for this razor, but I wanted to finish. And now I'm paying for it lol. Some irritation, no blood or anything, I got a close shave, just irritation. Some WH and balm should take care of it. I look forward to mastering this razor!

Good morning everyone - my last shave this year:

    sotd3112.jpg

    - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    - Vulfix "The Grosvenor" Mixed
    - Gillette Tech/iKon Bulldog
    - Feather (#6)
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser

It's been a while since I last used the MWF ... almost forgot how good this soap is ;) very slick, nice scent ... and I never had any problem lathering it.
Still not too sure about the Vulfix badger/boar brush ... one of my oldest and I still can't decide whether I like it or not. For some people it seems to be the best of bold worlds, for me it's more like neither/nor. It's not particularly soft and at the same time it is more floppy than my Semogue boars or my WD 2-band badger. But I really like the handle, so maybe I'll just re-knot it someday.

Seems as if I've been a little sloppy with my 2 passes today, so the shave is more DFS than BBS - but there's always another shave waiting tomorrow :)

Have a great New Year's Eve!

Rudy Vey Custom Shavemac two-band silvertip
    Route 66 Lumberjack
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Small Batch Shave Tonic

To celebrate my New Year's Eve shave, I finished with Small Batch Shave Tonic, a locally made bay rum aftershave. I have developed my skill and confidence this month with a two-pass shave. Most days, I include some touch-ups on my chin, mouth, and jaw areas. I now use more ATG strokes, particularly on my lower neck, and it seems to agree. Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed razors and Route 66 Lumberjack soap are truly a dynamic duo.

    Happy New Year!

First run with my recently returned (DeltaEcho) Aristocrat and it performed flawlessly. However, I decided to teach a pesky little pimple a lesson and ended up with a little blood letting.
New Year's Eve and we'll be home early to avoid the drunks - Be safe if you go out tonight.

I'm closing out 2015 with one heck of an awesome shave - the Grapefruit Menthol soap from OSP is so darned nice. Lots of rich, dense, COLD lather with a beautiful scent and great post-shave care which is so important. The Shambala aftershave smells so awesome, and it really cools and soothes the skin afterwards! :happy088: :happy088:

Happy New Year's Eve, and be safe! :)

    Last Shave of the Year!

    Gem G-Bar razor
    Gem Stainless blade
    SRE synthetic brush
Shave Revolution "The Bourbon Room" SS (SC?)
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Nivea Energy balm
    Pinaud Clubman A/S

Tuesday's shave had a lot of irritation and I wasn't sure if it was the blade or the soap. It was the SS/SC. Tried it again today and it burned/irritated my face. It's a real shame too cuz it lathers easily and smells great. Now I have a tub (used 3 times) that will just sit. Oh well, live and learn. As for the rest of the gear used today, top notch and all it well. Now go enjoy your day folks

    today's shave
hot water wash with nuetrogena men's invigorating face wash and a washcloth
    @Jayaruh ole'#7/ whipped dog silvertip
    Route 66 A Perfect Gent
    Matador closed comb long handle
    Ladas(3)
    Crusella& co vetiver
today's shave was nice. ole'#7 and the gent were flawless. the new Matador is not as plug and play as the open comb. the safety bar felt a bit sharp, and the handle was long feeling. I had to constantly watch my angle and listen for the blade. it was very easy to get it off the prime angle. but I made my three passes for a very close shave.
I finished with a new bottle of vetiver. it complements the gent, but isn't as nice.
hope y'all did as well, or better. 20151231_084917.jpg
