Lol yeah...when they come in I'll have..uh...15 unique ones. The one duplicate ended up being a belated xmas gift to a friend. We'll see if he'll use it...his wetshaving is spotty as he keeps going back to his..cough-cough electric Braun razor that he claims is 'faster'. Dumb-dumb.
After one use, I would say it's a little more sensitive to water. First pass was a little sticky. But once the water ratio is right it does have a little more cushion, and maybe a tad more slickness. They're only a few miles away from me.
Back to some of my menthol treasures! Saturday morning: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Derby day 6 Stirling Black Ice SS Lucky Tiger AS Cream Alt Innsbruck AS There's no way I could go two consecutive days with no menthol - it just ain't gonna happen. So, here's the scoop: Even the Neutrogena facial wash is nice and chilly if it's left on your face for a couple of minutes and it smells quite pleasant while leaving your skin really clean. The Black Ice's anise scent is a favourite of mine, it lathers beautifully with a good middle-of-the-road chill and gives brilliant skincare, as do ALL of Rod's soaps which I have. The Lucky Tiger aftershave cream is another fabulous balm with very good cooling, and my den is not considered complete unless I have my Alt Innsbruck - damn, that stuff is ICY with a wonderful scent!
Thank you, Mark. I appreciate it! It is number 15 in the series in honor of my Dad, who was born in 1915. Rudy Vey was very happy to honor my request for it. He's a real gentleman.
First shave of the new year. I decided to go back to my first shave gear . My VDH set with boar brush and small bowl. Customized with nautical compass on bowl and monogramed deblum on brush handle. VDH Deluxe soap relocated to new magnetic bottomed tin. I have a few and stick them in my medicine cabinet. Gillette 1967 (M-3) Tech ball end aluminum handle Dorco ST-301 ( NOT the pitiful ST-300) Old type packaging on the right side. New included for comparison. Good ol Murray & Lanman Florida Water Very nice DFS, not quite BBS. I'm sure that is due to technique and practice with the razor. Having a very mild razor paired with a medium sharpness blade may account for something also. My inventory sure has grown since June/July of last year. Oops sorry for two pics, can't remove uncropped one.
Wow, that's great! I'm sure it's very special to you. My Dad was born in 1920. I still have the H-2 Slim he bought me. We will hold on to those Heirlooms.
Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam Razor - Gillette Ball-End Tech Blade - Gillette Silver Blue (#4 and out) Brush - Omega 20106 Soap - Beer Soap Brewing Co. Spearmint & Eucalyptus After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix Result - BBS Well that's my first shave of 2016 and I hope they continue like this. The B.B.C soap was lingering at the bottom of my box and hadn't seen much of 2015. It's a great artisan product and smells just like Wrigley's gum. I'll be using it more often this year. After having used my Fat Handled Tech all through December, I wanted to give the Ball End a go to see if it really was as I thought, slightly more aggressive, which I now believe it is. Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for 2016.
So I'm a bit late in posting today's shave, but here it is: Razor: Blackland Blackbird Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (D1) Brush: Oscar11 with a TGN Silvertip Shave Soap: Mama Bear's Ye Old Barbershoppe Aftershave: Floid Black
Captain Murphy over at B&B added some personal touches when he cleaned it up for me. He christened it the Jolly Green Giant. Green O ring, green numbers, and custom blade gaps 2 levels higher than normal.
SHAVE OF THE DAY JANUARY 1ST RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH BLADE: GILLETTE SILVER BLUE (8TH SHAVE)badly BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC SOAP: MICKEY LEE KRAKEN SHAVING SOAP POST: MLS KRAKEN AFTERSHAVE MILK Had a great 3 pass shave today with the Kraken. Very nice barbershop scent, the soap whipped up a nice lather with no problem. The GSB blade seems to keep going and going, on shave number 8 today and it was still smooth, although I may replace it soon anyways to be on the safe side. I have burned my face by trying to test the blade longevity, so I may not want to press my luck. Finished the shave with MLS Kraken milk, same great scent, and has one of the best ingredient lists of any aftershave I have seen. Hope everyone had a great new years!
