That IS a nice looking razor! I have a J1 and Personna with a floating head, they both handle so well I`m not sure which one I like more. As you can see by my picture that I have a lot of face. I don`t normally shave above my glasses, but the other day tried the "floater" up there and was pleasantly surprised. I don`t think I`ll make a habit of it, but at least I know it`s an option if I want it. Happy New Year Mike.... and may the Good Lord have your back.

    See ya next year, Bill

Are we talking stainless or carbon steel blades? I get 4 or 5 good shaves from a carbon steel blades. With the stainless blades I can get up to a dozen shaves. Also, when they get dull I don't get weepers or tugging - they just don't cut very well.

When I first started shaving with Stainless Gem blades I used to take them out to 7 or 8 shaves...I could have got more I reckon if you don't mind a duller blade...Now I just bin them after 4 shaves because here in the UK from Connaught Shaving supplies I can buy 200 blades for £ 24.00...I personally like to feel a fresh edge ...:)

I was gifted this nice Schick E last year by a friend. I am just now getting around to it. It was a great, very close shave. It gets the first week this year. Happy New Year to all.

I broke out my bullet tip for my New Years shave. I haven't used it in a long time. A very nice shave with a GEM stainless blade. The razor is fairly mild but very good at removing whiskers. I love the sound it makes almost singing as I shave! Just a fantastic shave! Have a great day everyone!

I decided to break out my Steamline set to start the new year.

You can keep your Mongooses (Mongeese?), OneBlades and Cobras - this is one incredible shaving set. Every time I use it I find myself wondering why I don't use it more often. I guess I think of it like a bottle of hundred year old single malt scotch, to be saved for special occasions.

What I find most interesting is the way that it tames the Gem stainless steel ptfe coated blade. These blades have a well-earned reputation for being a little harsh for the first shave or two before settling in, but not in this razor. My shave was silky-smooth and irritation-free despite a brand new blade.

Lovely Set and great way to start the New Year...When I had my first shave with my Streamline it burst my bubble because it took me more than a moment to face another SE..I also find that a Gem blade is smooth as icing on a cake with this razor...And yeah I find it hard to believe that a Modern Razor could outshine the Streamline ..It just seems to have everything going for it...Its Luxurious Even..:)

Here is an update on my razor design. I have the 4 pieces cutout for the head. The 2 brass springs. They have not been bent to shape yet.
The main head right off of the machine. This will need the threaded hole for the handle still. I also need to tap and Bead Blast the head. The comb is done with a bead blast.
I may go to work tomorrow and try to make the bucks for bending the springs and turn the handle.

    Love following this.
You should consider creating a separate thread about the birth of this razor as it might reach a wider audience that otherwise might miss it 'hidden' in this thread.

Thanks for the idea. I think I might do that. It never dawned on me to do that as it is an injector. We do not seem to be a very large crowd. That is a shame as they are awesome shavers.
