    First shave of 2016 and thanks to a post by @Bird Lives I used my Grandpa's 1912 to kick the shaving year off right. :happy088:

    It had been some months since I broke out this classic SE and it was a pleasure to use. From the first buttered toast feedback to the nice, clean shave it gave me I really enjoyed shaving with it again. My mom is visiting so, in a sense, there were four generations up and about this morning. :cool:

    I get great shaves with my SS. I find that I like a sharp blade, such as a Feather and light pressure. It took me a little while to find the correct angle. I also started out getting a lot of weepers until I figured out that no pressure is needed. Consider doing a 30 day focus using this razor. I'm sure you could figure it out that way. The focus thread has helped me immensely. Good luck!

    Hello folks, today's SOTD as follows;

    1916 Gillette Pocket Edition Ball End Old Type.
    Personna Platinum Chrome blade.
    Chinese Badger Hair brush.
    Nivea Post Shave Balm.
    Cella shaving soap.
    English Leather AS Splash (vintage).
    English Leather cologne (vintage).

    This shave was fantastic! I was almost BBS on the first pass. One more pass, and I was totally BBS. Wonderful! These old Old Types with the thin cap can hardly be beat. Here's the photo-

    I found a monthly focus that I can handle! I have six B&M soaps, so I will rotate them pretty easily. I might finish off my Rhapsody and Ferox, since they are already in donut mode. I went with Rhapsody today and I was not disappointed. The scent is a unique blend of pear and other floral notes. It smells sweet out of the jar and transforms on my face during and after the shave. This scent does linger a little while, especially if the aftershave is not too strong. Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum fits the bill - warm and spicy, but not cloven. KFBR provides excellent skin care without feeling greasy or making my face feel too tight.

    That is SOOOOO COOL!
    It's subtle to not detract from the razor, yet give a little personalisation/highlight.

    What a great shave this morning. The Mamba actually gets better with each use, today I could hardly feel the blade gliding across my face. Of course the SV is outstanding, providing great cushion and slickness. The Varlet is closest to the perfect brush for me. I hope you all have outstanding shaves as well.

    I wish I could warm up to the Rhapsody, but there is a prevailing scent out of the tub that I haven't been able to get behind. It's great to hear that you're finishing off not one but two B&M tubs.

    Geez, not the way I was hoping for my first shave of 2016 to go. Really uncomfortable, which I'm attributing to the Shavecraft. That razor has battled me every time, and I just can't seem to make it work for me. Might not be long for this den!
    On the upside, the Ozark Mountain is a really great soap! Piney and rugged with just the right amount of soft edges. Something you'd want a candle scented in.

    Have a great Saturday, friends!
