Agreed on HTGAM, PAA, PPF, whatever that strange fellow wants to call his stuff, I just can't get behind a product like that. Too many other options for me to give my money to.

Totally agree. That guy is one weird dude. And why so many products?? They have a million products that do exactly the same thing. It makes no sense to me and with that many products being made there is no way quality is there. Just my two cents, but I don't ever plan to purchase anything from him.
Let him be well, let him be successful, but I'm not planning to buy from him again. I have one soap from him and that's as far as it'll go from me.
2015 was the year I discovered wet shaving...and The Shave Den so here's my list... Hits: -Blackland Blackbird (my gamble of the year) -PAA DOC (I know the feelings about him out there but this razor really eased my learning curve.) -Captain Choice Bay Rum Soap (it brought me back home...I miss the island) and the lather bowl -Soap Commander Vision and Courage (super nice people great story oh..and great soaps) Miss: -blades omg the blades: crowns...big Ben...Gillette 7oclocks...Personna... -Merkur 34C I know the love out there for it but I couldn't get dialed in... -Italian Barber millionario love the scent but can't seem to get irrigation free Shave from it. I can't wait to see what this year brings.
You liked the Captain's Choice Bay Rum Soap scent? I have their Bay Rum aftershave and their Bay Rum soap smells nothing like the aftershave. I was very disappointed
I didn't buy the aftershave, so I can't compare it. Being from the Caribbean the smell brought me back home with memories of my gramps shaving. And just so happens that I like the lather and post Shave feel.

I was another purchaser who was disappointed with the Captain -- the lather, glide, and post shave feel were excellent for me, but that marvelous fragrance that Cat-O-Nine tails or his Bay Rum have was sadly meagre. I will always try to keep my favorites of CAPTAIN'S CHOICE aftershaves in my shave kit. Several of them are on my DNROO list -- (Do Not Run Out Of)
I bought my first DE razor in May 2015, so pretty much everything was new and exciting to me. But here's my list. Hits: - You folks here at TSD. You are a knowledgeable, crazy, generous, silly, funny and overall great bunch of people. - my November focus month. Made me a much better shaver - Semogue boar brushes - Whipped Dog Synthetic and High Mountain Badger - La Toja Stick - RazoRock Mudder Focker - Jeeves of Hudson Street Eucalyptus & Spearmint - ToOBS Mr Taylors and Jermyn Street - Speick cream - Tüff sensitiv Aftershave - Merkur 34c - Phoenix DOC - Vintage Gillettes - GEM Bullet Tip Misses: - Portus Cale Black Edition. Smells soooo good, but the only soap so far that made my skin tingle - Gillette Super Adjustable. Looks great, don't like the long handle. Awkward balance. Gave it away - Feather Popular. Same as above - Proraso red. Didn't care for the smell - Switchback 400. Returned it because of poor workmanship. But customer service was good. - Stirling "The Kong". Too big and soft for my taste - Alt Innsbruck Aftershave. Smells like one of those mosquito repelling citrus candles - Proraso green. Menthol - Myrsol Emulsion. Menthol - Floid Vigoroso. Menthol Did I mention I hate Menthol?
@Marverel , Glad I read your assessment of the Switchback 400, like the looks and was thinking of getting one, until now at least. Question, if you dislike menthol why did you order it ? Maybe you're like me and say to yourself "maybe I've changed and should try this again" only to find out no, still don't like it. Funny regarding the mosquito repellent smell that would be a big turn off.
Well - the Proraso Green was one of the first creams I ever tried. At that time I just did not know that I dislike the cooling effect of menthol. As for Myrsol and Floid: I simply wasn't aware of the fact that they both contained that much menthol. Should have checked the ingredients list first I am okay with the homeopathic amounts of menthol in Proraso white and I Coloniali soap though...
Those first's buys can be dangerous. I have a few items ranging from razors, soap/creams and brushes I got early on that I don't like or use. I like the Proraso white also and was lucky to be at a retail facility whereby I could smell before buying. The white was the best one for me.
My big miss is my Gillette Aristocrat (1958-50). The safety bar was bent when I received it - I tried to bend it back with a screwdriver and used too much force and the safety bar broke off (on one side). Boo!
A very short list for me. Hits: Acquiring a most excellent Gillette Black Tip razor. The pleasure received in restoring old shave brushes. Building shave stands to hang my brushes. Misses Acquiring a The Shave Nook 2015 Paladin PK 47 Limited Edition brush. Unfortunately this has turned out to be my most expensive miss of all time.
