    Thanks :)
Yeah, shaverhut in Australia is not the cheapest place around but they are great to deal with and often have products I can't find anywhere else

Id rather pay a little more and have great customer service, and to find a razor that's hard to get is a bonus. The cool thing is you can buy just the iKon base and use your cap on other B1 products. I'm thinking in 17 I'll buy the open comb, or if I fall off sooner :p

Thanks, shhhh, let's not publicize this too much lest the price go up! ;) I find that when I rub it into the beard and then face lather with a brush it works the best. Great cream, indeed.

Thanks! It wasn't on my list until I saw it come up and realized I'd never seen one for sale before.

today's shave was long and crowded
so this story may go long, I'm sorry in advance if that bugs y'all.
you see,I am raising a six year old, I've had since he was 2 1/2. this year he got a storm trooper shave set.
as I was preparing my implements, here he comes with half his stuff, wanting to shave with me. so here are the things we used:
    him,
    hot water wash
    storm trooper synthetic brush
    galactic grape canned shave cream
    mixed in a marvy mug
    micro touch one(no blade)
    ICED virgin island bay rum
    me;
hot water wash with nuetrogena men's invigorating face wash and a washcloth
    @GDCarrington
    customized Rubberset/ two band finest
BOMBED Pyrate cove bay rum and ginger
    Merkur progress(4)
    persona lab(2)
ICED pinaud virgin island bay rum
the crowded shave ensued, me doing my thing, him mostly rushing ahead to the next step, asking if we were gonna do three passes. all done,I think he was a little amazed by the hair left in the sink after I pulled the plug. then he was running for the other sink to wash off the ICED vibr, cuz it was burning.
all said, it was a good shave.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

I have both standard and OC version and found the OC to mild. For me I ranked the OC fifth behind the Standard, Tech, both slants then OC. This actually surprised me as I thought it would be more aggressive than the standard bar. Haven't tried the short comb so cant compare that one.

Roger, thank you for your kind words, and you know how mild our winters are, although we have had an extremely wet one, this year. :)

    48-50 Milord
    Astra SP (3)
    VDH Boar
    Williams Mug Soap

I've been slowing it a bit the past few days, so this is my first shave of the new year. Moreover, it is my first time using Williams soap (and the first in quite a while using anything other than the VDH Deluxe).

For appropriateness sake, I used the Williams in a vintage Rocket brand coffee mug. Following various hints I had previously read, I pre-wet it more than I would have the VDH but, other than that, pretty much followed my usual face lathering routine. It may be that I'm still too new to all this to know I did something wrong, but I didn't seem to have any particular issues making a decent lather with the Williams. The hardest part for me was having to take a moment to get used to the lemon notes in the fragrance.

As for the shave itself, I continue to be impressed with the Milord and the fact that it seemed to have no issues with several days of beard. There was some very minor tugging which could have been the blade starting to show its age. At the end, a nice CCS which would have been a DFS except for an area under my chin that should have had another pass.

In my opinion the 1946/47 Aristocrat is the classiest razor ever produced. You have a fine example there Douglas. Great photo too.

I believe that's a pretty spot on equivalent!

That is valuable information. Because the WD synthetic has everything from my Shavemac Silvertip that I love (exceptional soft tips), but none of the bad (lack of backbone for instance) and it has everything from Boar I love (good backbone) and none of the bad (break-in time, scritch from some makers, etc.).

My friend has a Mühle Silvertip fibre synthetic - I'll see if I can borrow that and try for myself. From your description I might have to stay clear of the others you mention. I had especially the Plisson in my sight, but no more.

    Stirling Sharp Dressed Man,

Used my TV Special today to compare to my '57 Super Speed, with which I've had less than optimal shaves. The result today was similar. A half-decent shave, but nothing to get excited about, no need for fanfare. I think the SS razor must be a mild razor, the exact opposite of my initial thought. I tend to struggle with mild razors, overworking the shave and causing myself problems. So, I guess this shaver needs to improve his technique. I've got three different Techs I can to use for training.
