I can attest to the fact that there is nothing like a relaxing shower and great shave when you think you're ready for one after a few days off with the chills from a flu.

As my technique has gotten better, I rarely shave every day. A good shave with a straight has me at CCS/SAS 24-30 hours after. A DE shave that was BBS has me at CCS/SAS still at 18-20 hours after. If I shave with either of those the following day, I get irritation. If I shave five days in a row my face turns red and gets flaky patches, and just hurts. Every other day seems to work well for me, with a night time shave on Saturday night, so I can shave again on Monday.

I have this crazy urge to try Arko Shave Stick with my SR today.

    Thoughts?

Go for it. It should work. If it doesn't then you'll have the urge out of your system. :D

The gods of random seem fixated on Arko -- four days in a row now. It's all good though. I like Arko. I just reached for the Nivea balm in post shave to compensate for the drying effect. Good shave though. I think Old Type #2 and Israeli Red are a good pairing. Brut is not a favorite and will not be repurchased. Sorry Broadway Joe.

Beautiful picture and set up, I face a similar dilemma with my 1924 the shaves just last a lot longer. In reality I don't need to shave tonight. Which as you said is a problem for me. However I've come up with a solution I am going to alternate head and face. Traditional shaving makes me so glad I'm follicaly challenged I don't know how I'd cope with only my face to shave.

Thanks for the kind words Gents. The Shavemac Silvertip D01 is not your average silvertip. Great scrub!

The razor provides a darn close shave. So close that I'm not sure the growth was enough to "need" a shave in 24 hours. I almost considered it to be just about a 5 O'Clock shadow this morning.
I always make just a 2 pass shave - top to bottom and then bottom to top. I am considering shifting my passes to WTG and then XTG rather than approximately ATG. That's why we do these 30 day focuseseseesess (sp?)!

That may just be what I need to do. Heck, I have my scalp to shave as well, so I could always shave the face one day, the scalp the next and just keep it that way.

It certainly will sticking to proraso will remove one variable that could effect your shave leaving more room to think of technique I just did the exact same thing last month it definitely helps :happy088:

I have a Shavemac 177 Silvertip. It was my first high end brush, and definitely my favorite. While I am impressed with the new breed of synthetics and don't use my Shavemac as much as I used to, it's still the one brush I would keep if I had to get rid of all but one.

Does anyone know of the cadman brushes? They are bespoke and look incredible but my only source is the cadman website. They are pricey so would like an unbiased view.
